Went to try my luck earlier this afternoon. Account expired around the 5th of this month. Did not receive an email.

No go.
I used some points to pay around $17 out of pocket.
I did get 5k points for renewing which is standard.

Hopefully they have some Black Friday offer. This $25 per year price is ridiculous

The $5 monthly still works on Playstation/Xbox/Nintendo cards in store (for now). Though it no longer works for the $5 Xbox or Nintendo codes. The $10 denomination is the lowest available now. You can even buy one of the variable denomination Steam cards that start at $10 minimum too.

As for the magazine they unfortunately switched everybody over to the digital version and only sell copies of the physical version...for $5.99 an issue.

I just found out about that myself and posted a thread on the consumer awareness/deal talk forum on here complete with the image from Reddit.

I'm sure I'll find something cheap to use it on every month until my subscription expires in March of next year.

I noticed they don't have the survey site as well. Where can we complain? I remember doing it once a few months ago, we should call up and complain

All I went for was those cards. Gave most to my nephew for his Nintendo games

Wow that really sucks as my kid just signed up about a week ago. We had been using a different account and buying $10 Xbox cards in store for $5 for the last year. This really sucks that this is going away. Had we known we probably wouldn't have renewed. So it says after December 1st so maybe we can still use the $5 reward during Nov and on Dec 1st?

Also we signed up for a new account and this received the $10 welcome reward (10,000 points). It says you need to convert these to a gift card for either online or in store use. Do you have any idea if we can use these 10,000 points to buy an Xbox card? If so, would that be online or in store?

I've been using it during promotions like the current 25-75% off. I used it to get a free copy of the Risen remake on PS4. It's $5 after the 75% off and was free once they applied the coupon.

That sale is supposedly going until February.

I think we are witnessing the death of GameStop. There's been rumours they were transitioning to online only. Maybe that's the end goal with all these promotion changes?

I certainly hope not. My local game stores have absolutely nothing for the more recent gens and primarily resurfaced discs with garbage condition cases, artworks and manuals for the older gen stuff. Either that or they want eBay prices while paying crackhead values for selling to them.

They all make Gamestop look generous by comparison.

I stopped by GameStop earlier to spend my October $5 reward before it expired. It's getting harder and harder to get value out of the $5 monthly reward in store. Couldn't even use the $5 monthly reward online due to restrictions and sales/clearance. Like another person stated above, I now use this to go find cheap toys for my kids. I'll be joining the many folks who will let the membership expire. It's not worth $25/year to renew nor the benefits are favorable to us as it used to be. 2 year relationship with GameStop will soon come to an end in about 1 month, unless GameStop pulls a renewal deal for the third year in a row, then I'd likely consider extending. Now to find something worthy to spend my reward on.
