I got one when it shipped from Costco. Panel had issues within a week. Sadly no serial number was on the TV and a two week fight with TCL began. Luckily Costco agreed to take it back, even with the missing serial number
In short, it seems like it's not a bad budget TV, but it's from 2020, and there are better options available in this price range (like the U75K mentioned above, which was released this year I believe), and we should see more TV deals as we approach black friday, so I would probably not recommend this TCL model, but it wouldn't be terrible, either. I wonder if they will keep dropping the price of this particular unit little by little until they sell out of inventory.

If you don't game/ need HDMI 2.1 then this is a great TV. It's better than the Q7 which is its successor since TCL decided to work backwards and keep MiniLED for just the QM8. I purchased a R646 for my parents last year for $700 on Black Friday and its an amazing TV. As a X90K owner I would have loved to have pocketed the $300 if I had to choice to go back. This is the same TV just without HDMI 2.1.
Hisense will always score higher than TCL but keep in mind CR has Hisense rated very low in terms of reliability in the same bracket as Vizio, Philips, Westinghouse etc.

Looks live to me at $629. I bought a TCL R635 at costco.com for $500 a few dats ago. It might have been a 2020 model. I might have seen a mention of 2021 R635 in a review.

Damn, I'd have pulled the trigger.
