I own the white version of this, and have been very happy with it.

Depending on what temperature you set, it can either be a refrigerator or a freezer.

I think it is referring that it can withstand the garage heat during summer.

Garage ready usually means it can withstand the very cold temps below freezing and also hot temps. most regular ones if they get below freezing the freezer can shut off thinking its at the right temp inside when it is really warm and spoil your food. Happened to me

Auto defrost is a good thing and this has it. I have a freezer that I need to manually defrost once a month or so

What do you do with all the contents while you defrost?

I think the inside walls are at a different temperature than the freezer itself. Preventing ice from building up. I think 🤔
