Had to return this as it is NOT dishwasher safe. The plates don't come off and are a pain to clean

I don't like the waffles this makes. Something about the upright position makes the whole thing "steam" or something and the waffles always come out more like a cake than a waffle consistency.

Is it hard to clean, even if you use cooking spray or brush some grease on the plates? I wouldn't think that there would be much to clean off with a sponge, since its self contained and most that comes off would be stuck to the waffle. Where is the food building up? I can wait til woot gets them cheaper.

I don't like the waffles this makes. Something about the upright position makes the whole thing "steam" or something and the waffles always come out more like a cake than a waffle consistency.

Waffle cones require require something like this that makes very thin "waffles". (no idea if this is actually a good model, just an example)

Belgium waffles are supposed to have a denser texture, like cake. These will never make regular crunchier thinner waffles. You can turn it up higher or leave them on longer to make harder Belgium waffles, but that's what you get from a Belgium waffle machine that only make that kind of waffle. You will need a maker with different plates, if you want something different.

I have the Cuisinart verticle waffle maker which this looks to be a copy of (except this is square and mine is circular). I use a super light coat of cooking spray every 1-2 waffles and never have to clean it. I figure this will be the same.
