The black sheep of the MacBook family. Would rather have the 15" MBA for $999 at Best Buy (Total member price). Better yet, I would think a similarly priced MBP14 M1 Pro base model to be this price around Black Friday.

This isn't a better deal that back to school actually. The M2 MacBook Air was $999 with $150 back on a Apple Gift Card

This model uses the older MacBook Pro design and is equivalent to the M2 MacBook Airs (both 13" and 15") in terms of processing power. Most people will prefer the thinner and lighter MacBook Airs that have a better webcam for the money.

However, this model does have a larger battery, fans for active cooling and the Touch Bar still. So, if even better battery life, squeezing slightly more power from your M2 or having the touchbar are super important to you, this is still worth a look. Otherwise, you'll probably be happier with a MacBook Air.

If you like the touch bar, this appears to be your last opportunity to get a new, most recent 13 inch MacBook Pro.

After yesterday's presentation, the 14 inch MacBook Pro has the base M3 processor. the touch bar 13 inch MacBook Pro is no longer in the Apple Store.
