I got tired of solar light deals. Never ending landfill material. The rechargeable batteries will need replacing then the solar panel degrades then the emitter driver degrades. I switched to plugins 3 years ago what a pleasure they always work right

Total cr@p - avoid and save money. Very poor water proofing and they die within weeks / months.

I love (good) solar lights. These ones all died within a few months.

I have a nicely lit and landscaped back yard with a pool. Last thing I want is a street light blasting overhead and ruining my vibe. Ambiance is a thing. But if that works for you, go for it!

that's my experience with solar powered gadgets that they only last a very short time and kinda became useless.

Any recommendations for plugins?

Just closed on a house and trying to figure out the external lighting for the backyard and the driveway.

I've had good success with various solar landscape lights that I bought on Amazon. They've been working 4 or 5 years now. I would agree though that the wired systems are good.

If you want lights to last a lifetime, consider https://www.voltlighting.com. Expensive but some lights are permanently mounted and you don't want to deal with failures in the long run. Depends on your use case and budget though! Some products are discounted through costco.

Mine are Mainstays the store brand from Walmart. They were on clearance for $5 each at the time. I love them!

Or just get your city to install street lights in front of your house

A street lamp uses like 100 Watt LED, which costs $30/year in electricity. I save hundreds in electricity because of the street lamps around my house.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Ultimately ended up going with Volt. Not eager to spend that much, but if what everyone says is true then these should last me a very long time!
