I'm too tired to think this out, so what is the minimal buy-and-get-out with a phone on this?

Can you confirm that the pay off price will be $36? Usually on device payment plans you get a monthly credit and have to pay off the remaining retail balance to cancel. I don't see a monthly credit so I'm guessing this might be different but wanted to double check first.

Why would you pay for 60 days service and activation... instead of 3 days and no activation?

Unlocking happens either way in 60 days.

Walmart selling Samsung A53 for $36 for 128GB . Tax will be on these amounts only . Should not be on full amount as phone price is reduced.

You can pay off the phone at store in cash within first 14 days or online after 14 days. After you activate the phone on new line , you can cancel the line within 3 days to avoid activation charges.

For upgrading customers , they can try talking to verizon customer rep to remove $35 fee in next bill.

Don't think that you can do anything until you receive the device and activate it. You can create an online account at that time. If you don't plan on keeping the phone, you can cancel at that point. You may need to call in or use chat.

1) can I go in and pay off the phone at a Verizon store before the phone ships and I activate? Today is Friday, so it will be until Tues/Wed before the phone reaches me
-- You can pay off as soon as you see the line added in your account. It will show $36 as financed. If its completely new account , then you will have to wait for device to receive and activate it. then you can pay off and cancel.

2) assuming the phone has to be paid off before I can cancel the line - when does the 3 day counter start - from the time of the order or the time I activate?

-- If adding to existing account , then 3 days will start from the time , you see the new line added in account by walmart.
If completely new account , then 3 days counter will start from the time , when you receive the device ,activate the line. Setup the online account , so you can see that everything is good. Walk into the store , pay off $36 and cancel or port out the line.

I've never done these phone deals before. I'm still using my Moto E4: Remember that deal! (but need a desperate upgrade!). After reading the whole thread, I'm still confused on some things and how much is the final cost, and the steps of actions to take, etc.

I'm a Verizon customer. I did an upgrade because it said I'm eligible for one (and I also processed a new line scenario which cost over$100+). At the bottom is the result of the upgrade. But here are my questions:
1) Is the deal $36 for final cost? ($1/mo for 36 months)
2) I need to payoff the $36 somehow/somewhere (how?) within 3 days of activation?
3) To rid of the $35 activation fee, I need to cancel this line within 3 days of activation by text or phone?
4) But if I cancel, I will have a $36 phone but without my current #/phone service. Right?
5) To process this upgrade, the final cost of this phone will be $71 (36+35) not $36. Is this correct?
6) If I want to swap in my current SIM, I should go the new line option, correct?

Thanks for all clarification and help!

This sounds way too complicated to deal with. These American mobile phone schemes are nothing but a headache. Everywhere else in the world, you can buy a handset for X amount. That's it. No having to call in and cancel this or change a status after 48 hours or whatever.

Had this device since it launched. Not a very impressive device. The SD card is nice but I don't find myself filling up the 128GB storage (if it came with 64GB then the SD card slot would have been necessary, at least for me). The camera is mediocre and you cannot use third party app to get better image quality (on some modes it will try to saturate the colors and it looks odd).

Compared to an S21 FE 5G, the S21 FE 5G is noticeably faster and has better cameras. A53 5G has more battery life (1 day for S21 FE with 4 hour SOT, 1.5 day for A53 5G).

Compared to an A14 5G, A53 5G has noticeably better camera, but the performance in day to day is hard to distinguish. The OLED in the A53 5G is nice for night reading because it dims much lower. A53 5G has dual speakers while A14 5G has a headphone jack.

On the deal itself, non-Verizon customers are likely to get a hard pull on their credit report. Plus you have to go to a store to pay off the device and cancel the service. So it seems like a lot of work for a $100 device.
I'm an ATT customer and didn't get my credit ran
