I'm too tired to think this out, so what is the minimal buy-and-get-out with a phone on this?

Can you confirm that the pay off price will be $36? Usually on device payment plans you get a monthly credit and have to pay off the remaining retail balance to cancel. I don't see a monthly credit so I'm guessing this might be different but wanted to double check first.

Why would you pay for 60 days service and activation... instead of 3 days and no activation?

Unlocking happens either way in 60 days.

This was no go for me. Tried two stores and both said it can not be paid off early. Their computer does not allow it. I'm just returning the phone since Verizon has no reception at my house anyway

1) can I go in and pay off the phone at a Verizon store before the phone ships and I activate? Today is Friday, so it will be until Tues/Wed before the phone reaches me
-- You can pay off as soon as you see the line added in your account. It will show $36 as financed. If its completely new account , then you will have to wait for device to receive and activate it. then you can pay off and cancel.

2) assuming the phone has to be paid off before I can cancel the line - when does the 3 day counter start - from the time of the order or the time I activate?

-- If adding to existing account , then 3 days will start from the time , you see the new line added in account by walmart.
If completely new account , then 3 days counter will start from the time , when you receive the device ,activate the line. Setup the online account , so you can see that everything is good. Walk into the store , pay off $36 and cancel or port out the line.
Could you please provide similar steps for ATT, for the ATT version: https://www.walmart.com/ip/382174492

Yeah no go. Even on site says it's not eligible for pay off till 11-20 not sure how everyone else was able too. So that would change pricing unless cancel maybe be billed the $36 plus the partial month does that sound right?

Read my post. That's exactly what happened. Got billed for 1 day of service + regulatory taxes/fees + phone. Worked out to around $45. They are emailing me the bill tomorrow after canceling yesterday and getting activation/plan credits from billing dept today.

I'm a vzn customer, I simply upgraded my line and then paid it off in store. You can wait 14 days to pay it off online if that's easier. I jump on these Walmart phone deals often.

I'm confused. They are sending me a return label and wont let me out of the contract until they receive the phone. Are you saying they are sending you a $45 bill and you are out of the contract and are keeping the phone?

SIM card came inserted in the phone. The first time I turned on the phone activation started.
While setting up online account, it did say contact customer service if you dong know the pin.
question, we can set up online account(New Verizon customer) only after phone is activated, right?

Yes, I think so since you need an active phone number to setup an account.

Thank you so much for the deal!!

I was able to make it work, did the following steps:
- Ordered from Walmart, passed the credit check first.
- Activated when the phone arrived.
- I asked via chat to pay it off, and they told me I could do it in-store in cash before 14 days of activation, otherwise after 14 days can be paid online.
- I went to a Verizon Company Store (tried to avoid a Verizon Authorized Retailer), after the guy persuaded me a lot to not pay it off (he said they would charge me the rest of the equipment on the bill if I paid it off), he finally let me pay it off. Wouldn't offer me change so I had to go to a nearby place to get the exact amount with cash ($36).
- The day after, I talked via chat and they canceled my line, it was pretty easy. I'm gonna have to call tomorrow to request the bill to be updated for only 2 days instead of the full month probably, but everything good so far!

how does this deal compare to getting the a54 for $90 ($49.99 + $40 plan) or stylus 5g for $60 ($20 + $40 plan) from metro?

phones from metro can be unlocked after 6 months without consecutive service after the first month

Ultimately depends on what your use case is. If you simply need a backup go for the cheapest option at $60. If you're going to use as a daily driver phone like I plan to then spend the extra cash and get the SE23FE. From Metro. $150 total out the door online if you are concerned about the best value at the lowest reasonable price than the a54 at $94

In fact the Moto at Metro is only $40 stylus

The only thing I am hesitant with these deals from Walmart Verizon is the fact I'm not a customer. I don't want credit to be impacted. Too much uncertainty. Metro is much safer in my opinion that is not to discount those that are taking part of this deal. One day I hope to build up enough courage to do that myself

Received the device yesterday. Did not turn on. Called the verizon customer and they are saying that they can only cancel after the 15th since they dont get any option at their end now. But they can cancel the line, waive off activation only after the 15th if I call in and then pay off the device. I asked the rep to add these notes to the account so that next rep does not give me hardtime and i dont end up paying activation+service. Has any one have similar experience, can we trust on their words if I call after 15th will they do it aas they said?

Absolutely not. Regardless of what Verizon tells you. This transaction must be completed in three days. This has been covered over and over and over again.

Credit check is only a soft pull like others have mentioned. Walmart also states its a soft pull and shouldn't impact credit score.

I also found out that cellphone companies aren't allowed to do hard inquiries, only soft
