WARNING!
When purchasing the device from Walmart "activation" begins on the date you receive the device according to the carrier delivery date. I did not know this, assuming it started with activation of the phone itself. I received the phone on Wednesday, but did not activate until Sunday. I went in to the Verizon store that same day to pay off the device. The rep told me the option to pay off the device was greyed out for him, so was unable to di it. He suggested that I could pay $36 cash instead. I did so and got a receipt, but it does not show the amount was specifically for device payoff. It looks like I will have to eat the $35 activation fee.

Cancelling the service was a pain. It took 2 chats and 2 phone calls, but no-one was willing to provide me with a final bill amount. Online account shows I owe $127.52. The last phone rep told me it needs to update and can take 2-5 days. I don't believe much of what any of them say. I told the fist chat rep I wanted to cancel as of the same day, she dropped the session. Then I went online and saw the service was cancelled as of Nov 27th 🤬

I activated and canceled on the first day receiving the phone but my final bill is showing up as $126 including the $35 charge and $75 plan fee. Is it going to be waived or should I call them?

Call them up to have them waive the extra fees and prorated your plan for just one day.

If you guys don't want to deal with the buyout from Verizon, you can also purchase from BestBuy:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/6501377.p

They have the option for one time payment of $49.99; about $13.99 ($49.99 - $36) more expensive vs Walmart's deal

Also includes 1 month of gamepass for Xbox users out there
It says with activation, is this easier than the Walmart deal? What do I do to get it for this price and when does it become unlocked?

Reporting back: My first bill showed up as $80 ($45 payoff and prorated service +$35 activation). They didn't waive activation like they said. It was supposed to be $45. So now that bill is generated, I'll just have to call billing back and get them to apply to this bill that is now in their system. There is a note on my account that they will apply it.

Also, walmart delayed delivery 1 day, so I ended up receiving it on day 4. Verizon starts the day of service when the line is signed up for, not when you receive the phone so that you can get activation automatically waived. A phone call to billing will get them to manually approve that when you tell them the date you receive and activate the phone.

Even though my final bill came out as $85.04 initially, I was able to call them to have it adjusted. I told them I did not expect the bill to be that high and it should have been only $36 device + 1 day of service and they offered to take $50 off and I had to pay only $35.04.
I also had a second phone with the same situation and at first they offered to have only $45 off but I said if I could have $50 off instead and they came back and gave $60.04 off and I had only to pay $25 for the second phone.
Maybe you guys can negotiate with them to have the final bill as low as that or even lower.

Dumb question. What is a verizon corporate store versus regular store? How do I know which one is which? When I do google search 'verizon corporate store', I don't get any info. Their store locator webpage seems to be broken atm.

My final bill came out as $55.xx initially, I was able to call them to have it adjusted. They took off $4x.xx and I ended up paying $10.xx for the phone (including the price of the phone). Great deal!

I activated and am currently on Verizon. Is there a way to payoff before 14 days?
