Seems to be pretty much the same thing as a Solidigm P41 Plus which has hit lows of $63 in the past. QLC with no DRAM and probably even the same controller.

Not happening. Consumer SSD pricing is on the rise and supply is tightening.

they cut the production so less supply. lots of SSDs went back up in price like 4TB WD SN850X was low as $229 in July back to $300 now.

Gen 3 drives tend to run cooler and are usually cheaper. To me they seem like a better fit. But this is a solid price and it will work.

I have a hard time filling 256GB on my externals. So I've always recycled my older drives into enclosures. If your use case doesn't need 2TB and you don't need to upgrade any computers you could look for smaller and cheaper drives.

My Toshiba 3GB 7200 RPM internal drive that I use for data storage on my PC just went out on me so I have been looking for a new drive. I was comparing the Seagate Barracuda to the Western Digital Blue but now I'm considering a SSD. What are the thoughts on using an SSD for data storage vs. a conventional hard drive?
