FYI: Descent: Legends of The Dark requires an app to control the scenario/enemies and cannot be played otherwise. There is no paper copy of the scenarios.
Good deal if you are ok with playing against an App. I cannot speak to the quality of the game as App driven board games are not something for me.
I am very tempted. Only thing holding me back are some of the negative reviews from Dice Tower and other reviewers I tend to vibe with. Great price though. May be worth it…
The company that makes these is excellent and the earlier (non-app) version of Descent was WICKED cool.
They had a campaign mode back in 2009 where the players wrangled all this stuff and you had a ship that you could try to sail, but then also rolled for breeze and ocean currents and it was a MESS. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardga...-sea-blood
It would have been a great video game, and the idea of using an app to control this junk is genius. The only problem is that every game I've ever bought with an app... stops paying apple to support it and is no longer playable.
FFG has been around a long time though, so this might be the exception. Some solid reviewers say "not as good as their others" which gives me pause.
One note is that there are 40 minis with it, so even if you ONLY wanted those, it's a fair deal for the price compared to most Reaper or other models.
Great game and app is done well. I love the use of the app for games like this and Mansion of Madness. I'm generally the one running games so it's nice to be able to play along with these and not have to be GM/DM.
This was hyped on release but it never really caught with the board game community. Just know that when you open it up and have to unpunch everything and assemble everything, it takes almost forever.
look for mansions of madness. second edition if you like games like this

Funny thing, because forever is infinite, even things that take almost forever can just be considered to take forever.

I've been burned before by this business model, it rendered the hundreds of dollars that I spent on Golem Arcana completely worthless. Similar to how Square handled PlayOnline, it's only as useful as the parent company lets it be until it becomes abandonware

Wonder if open source would step up to that. Seems a community of fans would be all over that
