They do tell you when an item arrives and what items will come.
I find it useful and like the 8 better as it is larger but the clock is better on the 5 as the 8 uses less screen for it and emits more light. The 8 also has a better camera and speakers. The 8 camera will sort of follow you as you move.
Otherwise, if doing Target, if you're eligible for a military discount, check your target circle - you can get 10% off on two purchases between now and Nov. 11, but you have to go into your account and activate the offer. Not sure if it applies to the Echo, but worth checking.
