The fact that the speakers (dock) can't be used as a standalone Google Nest speakers blows my mind and keeps me from making this purchase. It makes no sense to me why it requires the tablet to be on the dock to play music.

Probably because they want it to double as a smart hub. I don't think ChromeOS can do that.

I'm Android for the most part (happy with my Pixel 7 and 6a phones), but the absolute only reason I got an iPad was to be able to use Procreate. It's a damn shame they refuse to make an Android app, as there's nothing that even comes close on the Play store

I agree, I would get this for the kid to use, but it will only be on the charger when the damn thing is completely dead.
