Caution, they weigh carry-ons before boarding and charge $125 if you exceed 10kg for the carry on and 2kg for the personal item. As long as you are aware of that then flying TAP isn't too bad.

I flew three segments on TAP last spring and they weighed none of the carry-ons. In fact, I didn't even see a scale at the terminals.

That said, Lisbon is massively overcrowded for the traffic which means that embarking/disembarking is done out on the tarmac, away from the terminals, and then riding a bus into the terminal - a route that can take 15 minutes or more. Also, TAP is one of the few carriers which fly narrowbody planes transatlantic (mostly A320/A321 Neo). The good news is that they seem to fly the newer models transatlantic, but they fly older hardware within the EU. I've flown worse, but TAP is definitely on the lower tier. OTOH, probably $200-250 of that price is just taxes and airport fees, so it's not going to be any cheaper than this

It can get cheaper, I flew $280 return with TAP from EWR to BRU and $330 from EWR to OPO return, but it's very rare.

It's true, they don't always weigh, but going through LIS is a good chance, check out these reviews (and I experienced the weighing myself) :

I prefer the A330 Neo, great planes, however you are right, they fly the smaller ones nowadays, and yes LIS sucks for connections, it's faster with dual citizenship due to using automated passport control in LIS.
