Hey, I'm glad to hear you must have woken up from the year long coma you've been in! You'll be ecstatic to hear that 2023 has actually been the greatest single year of gaming ever and will probably remain that way for a very long time.

Hi-Fi Rush
Dead Space
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Octopath Traveller II
Star Wars Jedi Survivor
Resident Evil 4
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Street Fighter 6
Final Fantasy XVI
Pikmin 4
Baldur's Gate III
Armored Core VI
Starfield
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty
Spider-Man 2
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Alan Wake II

That's just *some* of the biggest titles, not counting indie stuff, and we haven't even hit November yet. If nothing on that list interests you, you may want to consult your physician because you are still in the coma.
Great soundtrack, and my recommendation as the best way to experience Half Life 1

Bought this during the last sale and it brings back some good memories, but the game is not that great when compared to todays standards. Lots of level design choices that were "revolutionary for the time," but subpar by todays standards.

Plus lots of graphical issues on Steam Deck… don't even get me started on the flashlight issues…

Does the flashlight still light up objects to the side, but what's right ahead of you remains dark? That drove me nuts when I played it years ago.

Character interactions are pretty much non-existent.

Dialogue will trigger when you walk by NPCs, but the AI is extremely rudimentary. Things shoot at you, npcs barely follow you and they kind of shoot at each other. Sometimes.

And the levels are basically "shooter on rails" where you take one windy path that seems like it's set in a rich world, but the chasms, bridges, and lab equipment you see in the distance are all just non-interactive backdrops for a shooter. On rails. With occasional funny dialogue.

Yep. I think you can play with the settings to make it sort of work but you have to turn off a bunch of stuff.

They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I said I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said Welcome Aboard.

Once I got to Xen I started hating the game.

Other than that the game itself definitely feels huge in scope, with a ton of different places to see.

It's no wonder it took so long for them to make.

Some things are just best left alone so you can enjoy your memories of how groundbreaking and amazing it was at the time. Remastering an old game like this just makes it show its age that much more. It's akin to a 4k version of an old movie like Laurence of Arabia, the makeup on some of the actors, Omar Sharif in particular looks horrible in the detail we can display today.

Portal remaster, I'm in. Half Life, not so much..too much progress has been made in the FPS genre since it came out.

This is a great game if you like the Half-life series. Also, through the Steam workshop you can add the Black Mesa Blue Shift: Chapters 1-4 to play the Blue shift expansion.

Playing this game ATM and really enjoying it. Half-life fan since HL2. This is a throwback, and even with the remastering, graphically it's not quite as good as HL2; but the remastering definitely added some high fidelity, as in you can read trivial stuff off the posters on the walls and what not. Everything is just more detailed.

Paid $5 last year, and barely getting around to it now. Playing with a 4060. Love it.

Man this was simpler time. Just kid on his computer playing this game like reading a good book. Now it's all online crap that I don't even bother with.
