Product Details:
- THX® Certified Ultra: THX® engineers completed hundreds of different scientific tests to ensure the highest audio performance possible. The tests ensure the speaker can reach the high volumes necessary to achieve THX Reference Level, without creating audible distortion or artifacts. THX® Certified Ultra products are designed for large rooms, up to 3,000 cubic feet in size, with a 10~12 foot viewing distance from the screen.
- 13" Woofer: The Monolith™ 13" driver was developed from the ground up, with a design focus on achieving output, accuracy, dynamics, and linearity, while minimizing distortion. It is enclosed in a cabinet made from HDF material, with massive internal bracing, and outfitted with three ports that can use foam plugs to run the subwoofer in sealed, semi‑sealed, or ported mode, as you see fit.
- 2000 Watt Amplifier: The 2000‑watt (RMS) amplifier (3800+‑watt peak) is built around a Texas Instruments® 48‑bit data path, with 28‑bit filter coefficients, and DSP engine. Each amplifier's transfer function, power output limiting, and thermal protection are monitored to the millisecond and are customized for each individual driver. The high efficiency Class D amplifier modules are based on a proven topology that has been continuously refined over the past 8 years. The amplifier has vast reserves of power for highly accurate, deep bass for your home theater or music system.

I currently have one of the subs making a low rumble at idle, and have isolated it to something going on with the sub (no audio cables hooked up). I might keep my eye on a deal for something similar to what I currently have because it definitely sounded better with 2 subs than with 1.
Not sure if that helps you, but I'd go with 2 mediocre subwoofers over 1 house shaking subwoofer if you have the space.
P.S. I've had 13 cancelations on this item in the last ~2 weeks. Maybe someone is looking out for me?
Are these overkill?
I'm debating these or the rel ht1205 mk2
Will be used for music only

Based on reviews of people with failures on Monoprice amps/subs and bad CS support, this is spooky.
Is this the TRICK or TREAT deal of the year?
I need to run away from thread!
But... if everything works out
the Polks are all entry level stuff, to my untrained ear, they're great and get plenty loud, I feel like they outpace the bass from the F12.
Edit: recently got a set of KEF R7 + R2c, this should be good update from my M12 V1
It also shows a 5 year warranty near the bottom.
Previous deals have included a 5 year warranty on Monolith products(inc open box).
In the past others have been told 5 years by CS.
Prolly best to contact a knowledgeable rep and find out what is what.
A friend just offered me the price I paid for my Monoprice Monolith 10" THX, which I got as an open box item. I was surprised to see that it arrived brand new. Ive flogged it mercilessly for 4 years and it never let me down. So I just ordered this 13" to replace it.
After reading about Monoprice broken amp complaints and poor customer service, I understand that reliability is a roll of the dice. For every complaint, there are dozens (if not thousands) of others that have operated flawlessly for several years. A CS agent at Monoprice told me they have sold several thousand Monolith subs. After searching, I couldn't find any complaints regarding failures with this particular model (Monoprice Monolith 13" THX). It apparently integrates 4 x 500 watt amps, which is a departure from other Monoprice designs. This is a new design for Monoprice's top tier sub, so you'd also have to assume it was improved and more robust than previous generations.
Either way, this is going to be a substantial upgrade over my 10" Monolith, both for theater and music... just as the 10" completely blew away the 12" Klipsch it replaced.
If it dies after 90 days and I cant find a repair, I already have a selection of large power amps, jacks and cables to mod and power it externally. Hope it doesn't come down to that... fingers crossed!
