My friend that works at monoprice told me about this deal and has confirmed that most of the subs on this sale are in fact new items. Monoprice are simply trying to meet sale quotas before the end of year. That explains why so many in stock!

I wish they would sell out so I could stop considering these.

As someone whose Monolith 12 v2 amp died after 15 months and is currently going through an RMA process, I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole. If it had the full 5 year warranty, it would be tempting.

Ordered 1!

Should I use this instead of my Rythmik F12se for my home theater set up?

I use it for 75% music and 25% movies

What is sq and spl 1-10 for the rythmik and monolith subwoofers?

Might be a blessing in disguise after hearing about the different accounts of amp failures and the pain of returning a gigantic subwoofer.

Slightly concerning - did you order more than one? I was one of the last to order, so I'm probably getting cancelled too, lol.

I said earlier in this thread that I wouldn't purchase this sub, and I stuck by that. For the people who have their orders cancelled, I would not be bummed. I honestly think it is a blessing in disguise. Nevermind the hassle of shopping back this 150lb beast if (when) you have issues. You probably won't even have the opportunity, because Monoprice only guarantees a replacement if they have one in stock. Since these are open box, they will only replace it with another open box (if they ever have any in stock). I still don't buy that Monoprice would honor a 5 year warranty on these. They put 90 days in the listing for a reason. Definitely get it documented in writing or via email that you will get 5 year warranty on these if yours ships. But again, even if you do get the 5 year warranty, good luck actually getting a replacement when the time comes. Best of luck to those who ordered and receive one!

Thanks! Why all the thumbs down? Your feedback was quite helpful (:

Still juggling between "enough" performance, longativity (aka amps won't die), and cost.

The Bowers and Wilkins ASW610 @ half off and for $450 is so attractive, but this for $200 more has literally 10x power. And then SB-3000 for $750 is great too, heard so many great things about SVS but never owned a piece. I have the ASW610 in box but leaning toward returning it...
Didn't comment on the 610 because it's not in the same league.
There is no real benefit matching a sub with your loudspeakers.

Nothing will touch this performance at this price especially if your main preference is low bass extension!

The big hurdle, do you want to gamble on getting one without issues.
Even if something happens within warranty period it's often a major PITA.
That great performance is irrelevant if it's not working!

I run two SB-3000 and are outstanding for the $850/$900 cost I paid.
People always say SVS cost more, IMO you get what you pay for, part of that is great CS!

I will point out I prefer SVS performance, all my speakers are full range and my environment is dedicated and well treated.

If your layout is open, in general the SB-3000 might not be the best choice. Maybe two but even that might not get you there.

This brings up another benefit to SVS.
If you buy directly from SVS they give 45 days to try it and if you're not happy for whatever reason, you get a full refund & don't pay shipping to and from easy process.

You also get within a year you can trade up and you pay the difference.

Troubleshooting and or questions are easy!

SVS' s CS is top notch IMO.

I actually placed the order of 1 unit in the morning, before it came to SD, thinking it was a one-off deal. Oh well...

Great insights! Returning the Bowers and Wilkins right now. Placed an order for Monoprice, but I'm having second thoughts about it...

Did you get $900 and $850 for each piece or a set? My local store is selling one for $750 which is super tempting. I have an enclosed setup, but I'm not an audiophile by a longer stretch. I'm not considering a dual subwoofer set up at the moment so it's either a single SB3000 or the Monolith.

After searching, I couldn't find any complaints regarding failures for this particular model (Monoprice Monolith 13" THX). It integrates 4 x 500 watt amps, which is a departure from other Monoprice designs. This is a new design for Monoprice's top tier sub, so you'd have to assume it was improved and more robust than previous generations. Either way, its only a $600 gamble and completely destroys everything else up to this price point.

Good luck to all!

Did anyone not get a cancellation? I ordered pretty early when there were only 3-4 pages/8pm CDT.

I was excited all morning, now I'm bummed and have no sub to look forward to. Wondering if anyone got in on it.

Thank you, someone that understands the issues and headaches with these subs.

I understand what you were trying to do, but you directed it towards a person. That is what I'm pointing out. Your response to him was literally a rapid-fire of three contentious questions to which there was no way he would have a response to.

And as I said in my previous message - criticizing Monoprice is fair and your criticism is valuable - but not directed, even if unintentionally, at someone unaffiliated with Monoprice. There is a difference.
All this over 3 open ended questions? I meant no disrespect if anyone was offended by it. I asked those questions cause Monoprice can't even answer those questions. And people really want to throw money at that. Then ok, go for it. It's your money and time.
