you can make a bypass button; use as bookmark on phone and computer.
Mine is like this:
http://pi.hole/admin/api.php?disable=60&auth=

Disables pihole for 60 secs.
Your auth would need to be generated.

If you are buying this to run services or desktop replacement, just go with an Intel n95 or n100 mini pc. They are still 2x faster than the pi 5 and 4-5x faster than pi 4. By the time you buy a case and storage and power supply for the pi 5, you could just have a better mini pc that runs windows or any Linux version and you don't have to buy more for it.

I use mine to run HomeBridge to link unsupported items to HomeKit. For example, a Reolink doorbell, some Govee lights, Tapo cameras all play nice together
wait, Reolink doorbell with HomeKit? tell me howwww!!

Pihole - you'll be thankful to have one!
Don't need to spend $60 for running Pi-Hole. That works on even raspberry pi zero.

I run a gen 1 pi zero as a Dakboard / pihole and a zero gen 2 as a Retropie. Definitely recommend the zeros where applicable. If you're trying to run a hub for something like Home Assistant etc… just get a NUC or thin client. Exactly what I did with my HA, used thin client off eBay for like $40.

I'd only recommended a Pi 4/5 at this point for GPIO uses.

This deal comes with a 3A power supply which isn't quite strong enough for a Pi 5:

There ARE lots of applications, but new developments have certainly reduced over the years due to the shortages and limited availability. That motivated most to find other solutions. I personally moved pretty much everything I was running on a Pi over to Docker containers on my Synology NAS and that has made life WAY better/easier. But some projects require the hardware interface that the Pi offers and for those it's trickier to find a replacement.
Agree, I still have a couple PIs running (3d printer), but Pi hole is now a docker container on synology NAS

still, nice to see these in stock and they are impressive

Thinking about getting a Pi?

What are you planning to do with it?

Are you using the GPIO features? Are you sure your use case isn't better served by a much cheaper Arduino or ESP32?

Not using the GPIO? Just looking for something small form factor and low wattage? There are x86 mini PCs that will smoke the Pi in every way for similar prices after buying all the required accessories.

Using the GPIO and also need to run a full Linux OS? There are many Pi competitors with Rockchip 3588 with more features and performance than the Pi 5 that have been shipping for a long time.

I've owned every Pi since the original but they've really lost their shine in my mind.

For sponsored deals, will need to whitelist adzerk.net.
Can do wildcard whitelist for adzerk.net

I think the Pi5's are due at Microcenter any day now. They stock the offical case as well as the active cooler. ETA prime and Explaigning Computers have done reviews and used the coolers availible at microcenter for the review. Get the Pi5 IMHO.

Pi5 has a real power button!

I wonder how long it will take for a case with a PCIE slot?

Yes, you can manually add the blocked sites to the whitelist or use a publicly maintained whitelist. I use this and it has been working well. https://github.com/anudeepND/whitelist

5 needs active cooling or a big heatsink.

Kinda defeats pihole if you whitelist tracking urls.

Needs a temporary bypass button instead.
