iDrive sells it for 104.65, but Tom's Guide has a promotion for $3.98 for the first year.

I have always been adamant about backup solutions since I lost a week's worth of data for a company back in 1994. In addition to my Robocopy scripts that backup to portable hard drives rotated weekly for offsite, I also have had a cloud provider (SOS) for more than a decade. This month I was given 28 days notice that my unlimited plan was being cancelled and replaced with options that were more than 1000% higher cost. I investigated several options and found a deal for iDrive through Tom's Guide that is really a bargain and wanted to share it with y'all.

For anyone interested - totally worth it. I signed up for the same deal 18 months ago or so. When it came time for renewal, I chatted with a rep and got it for 50% off ($50 total) for the next year. The phone app is easy to use and the windows app is pretty easy as well

It's $4.98 for 1st year what is the point to keep backup for only 1 year?

It still feels a bit low on value for money.

Thanks OP, I'll try it. I just left backblaze due to their terrible policies. Looking for another backup provider. Anyone know any backup providers that offers around 10TB for $50/year? I don't have any mission critical data, just emulation and audiobook collection. I don't need any sync services either, syncthing works quite well.

I've used them for the last year. I paid for the level that includes a borrowed hard drive for the initial >3TB load so I didn't have to deal with my (C@x c@ble) internet provider data caps. Works well for a weekly offsite save and worth the price for peace of mind.

I currently have iDrive. Anyone know if I can add this to an existing subscription?

Curious as well. I've used iDrive with my NAS for ~6years. UI is not perfect, but otherwise its been fine. Just realized they have a phone app for backing up photos, sms, contacts, etc.. pretty nice bonus to backup full quality photos

Gives you a year to buy another hard drive.

I just contacted customer service. This can't be added to an existing account. It is only good on new accounts. However, you can have multiple accounts associated with the same email address, and if you're a current subscriber, you can get this deal by creating a new account.

I was able to get this $4.98 special by creating a new account. I used my same email address but I had to create new user name. I do have to start my backup(s) from scratch.

Customer service advised me to cancel the auto renewal on my old account and that account would end when the subscription on that account ends, which in my case, is January 2024. Then I will only have this one new account for $4.98 for the first year.

Thanks OP. This saved me money on an auto renewal.
