I can add some insight to that specific reference. Yeah, it has nothing to do with it being sold by Walmart. When the CD came along, albums became longer (up to 60 minutes). LPs typically fit around 20m a side. So some of the newer albums when cut to LP will get micro-grooved and jammed on to 2 sides. This produces a poor quality copy of the album (low volume & reduced dynamics). Pearl Jam 10 cut & pressed originally in 1993 was cut as best as possible and people pay hundreds of $ for a copy. The lacquers cut & their pressings since are not good at all no matter who is distributing them. A CD is better for that album at this time. If the music was spread across 3 sides, that album would be amazing on vinyl. So be wary of any LP that has 25 to 30 minutes of music a side.

Tool does it right. They make sure they spread the music out rather than micro-groove and their LPs are awesome.

Records are pressed at different facilities that also have their own variation in quality including the vinyl compounds used.

If you want to know more about the quality of a pressing, visit Discogs. You can find out if it was an authorized release, where it was pressed, whether it was remastered, and has user comments and grading.

Hopefully it is all records in store like last year. Picked up several $50+ records for $15 last year.

Be wary, a lot of these records have sound issues. I purchased TEN and I have to max my volume output to have it at a medium level. i.e. putting my speaker volume at 10, it sounds more like a 4 or 5 with that record.
Can you be specific about what records? I bought 20 records last year and the Walmart pressings were good on all but two. The Eagles, Van Halen and Led Zeppelin records sounded excellent. I picked up Number of the Beast, Holy Diver, Rumors, the soundtracks to Blues Brothers and Superfly and all sounded excellent. The only noisy pressings I picked up were War's great hits collection on Gold vinyl that was super noisy and a hits collection for Elton John that was pressed off center and I returned both. Walmart will take returns for defective records.

Vague information really isn't useful to us. Saying "lots of records" rather than which ones exactly is essentially meaningless and makes it sound to me like you have an overall issue with Walmart vinyl, which is pressed in the same places as record store vinyl, as other retail vinyl, etc. It also helps to know what gear you're using to come to these conclusions- for example, if you're rocking a Crosley, well, frankly, I'd dismiss your info immediately.
In other words, if you have a complaint and want the world to know, details would be in order, IMO.

Looks like Elvis Presleys "Golden Records" is also going to be one of the $15 records on Nov 8th...

Great!! I didn't assume anything-if you carefully read ALL the comments, there was another person who asked for details on the comment "lots of these records have sound issues". I was agreeing with that person, because of that list, which many have already put in their shopping carts for the 8th sale, specific info would be of great use before we put our money down. I think some might agree that the more info we have before a purchase, the more likely we are to be satisfied after that purchase. I understand that there are people who can function without that added info but I find it odd that someone would make a blanket statement, be asked for details but never reply. Sometimes peeps just talk like they're experts when in fact, they come lacking in that regard....

He said "lots of records" and then mentions a single record he had an issue with.
I'm convinced! 😂😂😂
