I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

Thanks OP! I went in on this same deal last year (for the iphone 12) and again this year. Will basically echo what I said at that time. I think this is a very solid deal if you: (1) are already a Verizon/ATT customer looking for an upgrade that doesn't lock you in for years via bill credits; (2) don't want to submit a trade/change your plan; and (3) don't need the newest tech/aren't a "power user."

Not seeing any recent deals offering an iPhone 13 (non-mini) under this price and even used ones in fair condition are being sold for more in the used market. At the very least, you should be able to recoup a decent amount of the $300 you spend on this by selling or trading it later down the line. Pretty low risk here.

What is crazy is how this thread has ballooned to over 40 pages when last year it was around 15 pages apparently due to more people trying to game the system this time around. I get that and the reason to do it, but that's also part of the reason that these non-bill credit deals are semi-rare. Also can't help but think it is bound to leave a lot of people disappointed due to them not following the correct procedures and/or misunderstanding the parameters of the deal.

I had to make an online wireless account on the ATT website and was able to pay it off after I set it up
I set up an AT&T account but how did you associate your new phone with your account? Did you need the phone number and payment agreement from AT&T?

Anyone know a good phone company cause ATT and Verizon both suck. AT&T has gone down the crapper big time.

If we have to choose between At&t and Verizon to do the deal, which one is comparatively easier to pay off /cancel and unlock? Thanks and tia.

It was a little weird. I wasn't able to set up an account or register to my new number after my purchase this morning. I even called their customer service line and they weren't able to do it. They recommended I wait until I have the phone in hand.

However, I got an email from ATT hours after I bought the phone asking me to finish setting up my account. I was able to set everything up through the link they provided and pay off the phone.

So is it confirmed if it will be a hard pull or soft pull for opening a new account with Verizon??

I purchased an ATT phone this morning through this deal. I received an email to set up an account this afternoon and was able to pay off the phone in full. I will try the sim swap method after I receive it on Friday
Thanks for the data points! I would think for you to do the SIM swap, you have to keep the account open. Are you receiving the iPhone within 3 days so you can cancel and recoup the activation fee?

i got earlier this year an iPh 11 deal for $99 with verizon. walmart took 2 weeks to deliver the phone and verizon service was partially activated as in they started charging me from that day itself. i ended up paying additional $80 for jsut 2 days of service because walmart initiated activation at their end

Thanks for the repl, so it also depends on the timing when Walmart deliver the phone? If that's the case, there's not much difference which one to choose from. I don't have accounts with either of the carriers, this is why I want to know which carrier is easier to deal with.

so we should wait to set-up the Verizon account on Verizon.com after receive phone/sim? That is the start of 3-day? Then pay off the phone either in own account (hopefully) or at Verizon corporate store within 3 days of setting up the account. Then cancel the plan by calling Verizon or within the account online? Can somebody shed a light? TIA.

Thanks. So 299$ + tax + credit hit is the damage?
If it's a existing account no credit hit much easier

This is such a conundrum for me. Either take a chance with ATT and hope the SIM trick works or deal with the Verizon store who are probably armed and ready for the onslaught of SD'ers with cash in hand. Kudos to the brave souls paving the way for the risk averse.
