I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

The new Verizon phone number assigned during checkout if you remember to write it down. I think Verizon customer service can look it up using your name and SSN.
Thanks!

I ordered from WM when the deal went live for WM+ customers and chose Verizon as a new customer. A few hours after ordering I received an email from VZ notifying me that my account email had been changed and I should contact them if I did not initiate the change. I called VZ and they could not find my account (since I had never created it). I provided a few PI details and they were able to find the new phone number I was assigned with the phone purchase. I used that information to create my VZ account. My VZ account has the pdf's for the device payment agreement, service agreement, etc. A welcome letter is there also - with a date of Nov. 11, 2023 - which is the expected delivery date for my device. The welcome letter states: "This letter confirms your activation of wireless service for number (xxx-xxx-xxxx) on Nov. 8, 2023. Based on this information it appears my activation started on the day I made the purchase. On Nov. 8 after I created my VZ account I contacted VZ requesting to pay-off the device. The representative indicated to me that she was not able to submit the payment until 11/23/2023. Seems as if something in there system was preventing payment until after 14 days. I'll try and visit a VZ store today and see if they will accept the payment. I have a feeling I will be stuck with the activation fee + 14 days of service before I can cancel and not risk the required return of the device.
Update:
I just called VZ and asked to pay off the loan amount for my device - the representative look up my account and indicated I owed $299 - I agreed and she emailed me a link to enter the credit card info - for a payment of $299. I submitted the payment and asked for a email confirmation indicating my installment loan was paid - I received email confirmation: Hi, Thank you for processing a payment for your device with an agreement id : xxxxxxxxxx for an amount of $299.00. Thank you for doing business with Verizon. I also asked about the 60 day sim unlock - and she indicated the clock started on Nov. 8
When you called VZ the first time, was your order already shipped or still being prepared?

So if I do this deal with Verizon total out of pocket is $299 + tax + few days of service which in my case would be around $330-$340 (if activation fee is waived) if I cancel within 3 days? And for VZ the phone gets unlocked after 60 days even if you no longer have service with Verizon whereas ATT requires 60 days of active service before unlock? Is that correct?

Last agreement for me (ATT). If you download all the agreements, it was in the html document (not pdfs) for me.

Oddly enough, my contact number on the walmart checkout page (where it says "text me about order updates" or whatever) was actually populated with the new number at that point.

Nice. I was planning to pay it off when I get the phone. I have ATT so I dont care about unlocking it. I want to pay it off and see if I can upgrade the same line and get another one. Also I dont like buying off on ATT website because they do the bill credits. This way I can get a cheap phone and dont have to wait 36 months to get another one if I need to.
