Paying off device on Verizon without speaking to an agent:
- Add a payment method to your Verizon account.
- Dial 611 from the new phone, which should confirm your existing line, or dial 8008374966 and provide the phone number/PIN
- Say "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts
1. you can activate the phone on new line
2. Pay off the phone via verizon customer service or in cash at verizon corporate store.
corporate stores are inclined not to take payment in cash. they may be aware of what folks are doing . thus they try to make it hard for you.
if corporate store denies u. politely but firmly insist u spoke with rep of verizon. and they assured u this can be done in corporate store. if still denied, ask for manager. if still denied, go to another corporate store.
3. cancel the line within 3 days and no activation fee . Pro-rated charges for line for 1-2 days only. do not worry about what bill says.
4. Phone will be automatically unlocked in 60 days. No matter you use it on existing VZN line or keep it in drawer . even if u r no longer a customer , since u cancelled in three days. the phone will still unlock.
5. new customer, there will be a credit pull .most likely soft. existing customer. most likely a soft credit pull. remember this is post paid service.
6. if existing customer. consider: adding a line. then follow steps above, u can also simply port out the line u opened up. effectively cancelling the line. and not effecting the other lines on your account.
(Note: this trick is for IPhone only and will not work with A54)
I can confirm the AT&T trick is working with a Verizon phone. It doesn't matter whats going on with your Verizon account. Paid off, not paid off, no account, canceled or not. This is concerning your DEVICE. You should pay the $299 as soon as you can find someone to take payment lol and cancel your line to stop the prorated monthly charges.
1. Under no circumstance, do NOT put the Verizon sim card into the phone unless you want a 60 day lock.
2. Ok let's free our
3. First phone boot was with the AT&T card. In settings, about device showed sim locked.
4. Visit https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ and click "start an unlock request"
5. Choose no mobile number from AT&T and enter the IMEI from setting, about. Don't enter the IMEI2 which is for your phones esim.
6. Check your email & junk folder to click link from email to "confirm your request". I got email nearly immediately that my unlock was approved.
7. Now reset the phone. I left the AT&T sim in it. Now the phone shows no sim restrictions. Note you might not have to do the reset. I read that just changing the sim should cause the phone to show no sim restriction but I reset mine.
8. Put whatever sim in it you would like.
9. I actually bought a 2nd phone that is still in the mail so I plan to try to reuse the same sim though I'm not sure if it will work.
AT&T
ATT requires 60 days active before unlocking the phone. However, there is SIM Swap method which worked well in the past for unlocking paid-off ATT phones right away.
1. ATT changed their unlock policy on 3/18 to require 60 days of service before they can unlock a fully paid device. Previously, it used to be right away if you have paid in full.
2. There two timeline for the cancellation. If you cancel a line before 3 days it was active then the activation fee is waived. If you cancel it within 14 days from activation under buyers remorse then no bill is charged but activation fees need to be paid. The line activates on right when you place the order not the day you receive the phone on hand so you might have to pay the activation fee of $35.
3. You can use a tello number and port to ATT but you would have to make sure porting is successful by going to https://www.att.com/portstatus/. Many from z fold 3 got stuck in porting limbo and got the ATT account cancelled.
4. As with many deals here, a SIM swap method is found which can be used to unlock the device. This was working recently but not sure if ATT would fix it by the time you try it. The steps are as follows.
a. Pay in full for the phone. While your payment will quickly reflect in your account it will be at least a few hours before it updates for the unlock request.
b. When you receive the phone activate it on ATT with the SIM provided. Make sure it shows up on myATT app/in the web so ATT knows and registers the IMEI in the network. Then put the SIM in another unlocked phone, rebo[SIZE="4"]ot, make some calls and make sure this unlocked phone is now showing under the line in app/web portal.
c. Now go to ATT unlock portal https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ and then choose not an ATT customer and use the IMEI of ATT phone and submit an unlock request.DO NOT attempt more than twice or you will be blocked for 24 hours.
d.Confirm the unlock request email and receive the unlock code.
e. Only cancel the line after you have unlocked the phone.
For ATT cancel line without talking with a human:
1. write down your account number. Call *7678 from your ATT number to get the transfer pin.
2. Use your just unlocked iPhone 13 esim to activate a free trial at US Mobile to transfer your number. https://www.usmobile.co
3. After you submit transfer request, check your ATT phone message, it will ask you reply some number to confirm the transfer. After that, resubmit your transfer request again.
Updating Warranty Coverage
Your phone may show up as Coverage Expired after setting up. This is normal and not necessarily a sign the phone is used.
- Go to checkcoverage.apple.com [apple.com]
- Log in to your Apple ID or enter the IMEI
- Select the device and click the option to call Apple
- Upload your Walmart invoice and/or your coverage agreement. For Verizon customers, there are quite a few Customer Agreement under "Account" -> "Bill" -> "Document and Receipts", there is one has device id on it and it's the IMEI of the phone. Make sure back up it first since it could be gone after the line gets canceled.
- Submit the form and speak to the agent.

After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.
THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

11/8 purchased
11/9 shipped and Verizon document shows it was activated 11/9
11/9 I paid off with CS on the phone after some push reading the contract. Though I show a payment and the device charge is now removed from the bill, I hope she did it right.
11/10 day 2, sit on my hands
11/11 day 3, turn on device, make a phone call, transfer number out to USMobile which will cancel the line. I like the number and I think Verizon's number pool might be older so hopefully less spam.
Note: USMobile shows the IMEI currently as good so it appears that it would let me start service on the device. The question is, is it because the device hasn't been turned on? Maybe never turning on the device may to our benefit?
Unless it's from activation date which might be 11/9 cause that's when it shipped? Idk
Call customer service to cancel the line or simply port out the line same day. You will be under 3 days and will not have activation charges.
Also , using above , there is less chances of abusing the VZN system so in case , we have same kind of deal in future , VZN or walmart will not put any kind of restriction and everyone will be able to take benefit again.
I hope this make sense. Again , try avoid calling CS to get restricted next time. I am putting this warning as it took me almost 6-8 months to get my SSN of their blocked list.
Tried calling again and it said the same thing. After saying "pay off device" the bot said something like "Our centers are currently closed, please visit the app for assistance." Not sure why the bot would tell me this if I'm not trying to get transferred to an agent.
At the very beginning, I called the other customer number I posted before like 6 times without auto pay setpup, the bot said it was going to send a link to my phone and goodbye. Then I completed the auto pay setup but it didn't help. Then I looked for other customer service number and after 13 mins ot auto pay setup i called 1.800.837.4966, surprisingly it worked this time.
Maybe try "Payoff device" or "device payoff"?

4. Receive iPhone, make a call, then chat CS rep and cancel line all within 3 days……maybe

Looks like the new number is activated once Walmart ships it. I created my Verizon account when I made my purchase and it wouldn't let me link the phone number at that time, but the linking was successful earlier tonight. I chat with a Verizon online rep to confirm that my line was already activated before I preceded to cancel my new line.
I paid off the device by calling 18008374966 and asked the bot "pay off device" (credit goes to ldsp for figuring that out). Just try call them again if you can't get it to work the first time, maybe the bot just couldn't parse the command from your voice input. Make sure you enter a payment method on your account prior to the call. Once it is paid off, you should receive a payment confirmation email from them.
I used the online chat to ask them to cancel or disconnect my new line. The online rep also showed me the charges, including the prorated charges (11/9-11/10), govt fees and a $35 activation fee, total came out to be around $56. I told her that I am cancelling the line within 3 days so the activation fee should be waived off and she said she will make an exception to subtract the activation fee from the final amount, which comes out to be $14.22. The rep also mentioned that I will be charged the next month's bill in advance but it will be refunded back to me (not sure how that works though). At the end, the line was removed from my account before I even opened the new phone, maybe I will just put the unopened iphone13 in my drawer for 60 days
So the break down is $25.79 tax + $299.00 payoff + $14.22 VZN fees = $339.01
Good night everyone
