It's back! Limited Time Offer!
Your points are worth 10%-50% more
Until 11/30/23 or while supplies last, your Chase points are worth more when you redeem for any product on the Apple® Ultimate Rewards® Store.*

Chase Sapphire Preferred is 25% more.
Chase Freedom Unlimited is 10% more.

https://ultimaterewardspoints.chase.com/

For example:

The $1199 iPhone Prom Max is 79,900 points (plus tax if applicable) if you have the Reserve (so retail * 66.7 points). Effectively 1/3 off at a penny per point.

If you have a card with a $99 ish annual fee, I suspect you get 25% extra (so retail * 80 points). Effectively 20% off at a penny per point.

If you have a no-annual-fee card, you likely get 10% extra (so retail * 91 points). About 9% off at a penny per point.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

But what if you aren't traveling much and need a new iPhone? Not everyone is looking for a 4 cent pp redemption on a round trip business class flight to Zimbabwe. Why not buy airline gift cards when they go on sale? (Like the recent Southwest cards at Costco).

Also worth noting you get extended warranty and purchase protection when you pay with points (you don't when you pay with gift cards).
You are really better off buying apple gift cards when they have promos or Amex offers to buy Apple giftcards for 20% to 25% off and using the UR points for travel to maximize the value.
I can get an iphone 15 pro for 66,600 points ($660 cash value points)

tempting

I do it for the experience and I am 6'6". Everyone uses their points how they want. Of course the most bang for the buck is travel, but some people don't travel. Who cares.

If anyone cares about points for travel just go to the award travel group on reddit and read.
Every time I read about how fantastic the UR points conversion is for travel, I look into it and come up with the same answer. It's near impossible for airfare if you have kids and have fixed travel dates. I've used them on hotels, which is easier to do... If I were still single -or without kids- with a flexible schedule, I would be spending my points on Emirates, too.

Agreed.

And we have 6 kids, I don't care what kind of steal I can get on airfare…a phone is way more enjoyable than herding them around an airport.

Same boat here (12 Pro Max). I just checked and I can trade it in for a $435 Apple GC (instead of $450 towards a new iPhone), which was much better than I thought it'd be. I'm going to look into selling it locally for cash and if I have no luck I'll just get the Apple GC and use it for iCloud and other subscriptions.

Edit: Trade in values are only guaranteed for 14 days. Hopefully they don't drop by the time the new one arrives!

Exactly. And it's not like those points are sitting around earning interest while we wait for that magical trip. May as well use them towards the new iPhone I was going to purchase anyway and invest the saved cash. If/when the time comes to book a trip, there are many creative ways to save on it if I don't have any UR points left (I'm sure I'll have plenty more accrued by then anyway).

Yeah I'm going to hold off save my points and wait for a 13 pro Max to come on sale in the Apple refurbished store. 😬

Does anyone know if there are any non-carrier iPhone 15 deals coming up for BF? I think Apple typically does a free GC with purchase, but haven't seen anything advertised yet.

Try First class Suites on Emirates. That's the only redemption I use my points for. Cell phones I can get cheap easily by trading in my Iphone 11's I got for $50 from metro.

Someone flying first class yet dealing in cell phones. Interesting

Well shit.... Wish I hadn't just upgraded to the 15pro... damnit. Even with the carrier trade in offset, this would have been a better deal, as it was unlocked from the jump. Dang it.

For what it's worth... I called customer service and they said they put 6-8 weeks on the iPhones as a "worst case" because it "may" take that long. She said some customers have received orders in as little as two weeks, but they are taking in a lot of new orders with the promotion that just started. Orders can be cancelled (by calling them) "depending on how far along they are in the process".

Please don't confuse people. Using UR points you're really only getting 33% off MSRP of the Apple product with the CSR card.
A peace-offering: both of you are correct. A point bonus of 50% results in a 33% discount, whereas a 100% point bonus would result in a 50% discount.

All I read is nightmare stories. I was ready to buy a 15 pro max but now I'm second guessing my idea.
just my opinion but maybe you're just better off getting the iphone 15 pro max through Tmobile if you have them as a carrier. i just upgraded my iphone 13 pro max to 15 pro max an dit arrived in 2 days. they have trade in for $650 or $1000 depending on your plan. i got $650 for my iphone xs and sold my 13 pro max for $600 on the open market so u pretty much broke even. i think verizon also had a better trade in deal too. not sure about at&t.
