It's back! Limited Time Offer!
Your points are worth 10%-50% more
Until 11/30/23 or while supplies last, your Chase points are worth more when you redeem for any product on the Apple® Ultimate Rewards® Store.*

Chase Sapphire Preferred is 25% more.
Chase Freedom Unlimited is 10% more.

https://ultimaterewardspoints.chase.com/

For example:

The $1199 iPhone Prom Max is 79,900 points (plus tax if applicable) if you have the Reserve (so retail * 66.7 points). Effectively 1/3 off at a penny per point.

If you have a card with a $99 ish annual fee, I suspect you get 25% extra (so retail * 80 points). Effectively 20% off at a penny per point.

If you have a no-annual-fee card, you likely get 10% extra (so retail * 91 points). About 9% off at a penny per point.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

But what if you aren't traveling much and need a new iPhone? Not everyone is looking for a 4 cent pp redemption on a round trip business class flight to Zimbabwe. Why not buy airline gift cards when they go on sale? (Like the recent Southwest cards at Costco).

Also worth noting you get extended warranty and purchase protection when you pay with points (you don't when you pay with gift cards).
You are really better off buying apple gift cards when they have promos or Amex offers to buy Apple giftcards for 20% to 25% off and using the UR points for travel to maximize the value.
I can get an iphone 15 pro for 66,600 points ($660 cash value points)

This isn't Let's Make a Deal… if you have CSR it's 50%, CSP it's 25%, and one of the no annual fee UR cards it's 10%.

Every time I read about how fantastic the UR points conversion is for travel, I look into it and come up with the same answer. It's near impossible for airfare if you have kids and have fixed travel dates. I've used them on hotels, which is easier to do... If I were still single -or without kids- with a flexible schedule, I would be spending my points on Emirates, too.

I used points to purchase hotel stay. I didn't receive points from the hotel program and they told it's because I purchased the ticket from a 3rd party site and is a special rate.

Was hoping this would return! I see one big problem though - it doesn't look like you can trade-in an old phone when buying this way. For me that's going to be a dealbreaker.
you can just sell your old iPhone on Gazelle or other websites where they buy phones. They pay a lot better than what Apple would pay for an old device.

True. But getting that phone is at full retail so that is another factor. Its not like you are getting a nice discount on the phne and can get Best Buy gift cards or something to buy that phone. In the miles and points community this is discussed. (your comment specifically)

They won't understand this is essentially purchasing the phone at full retail. They think they are getting 50%. This logic will also conclude that any UR portal redemption using UR at 1.5 ccp is a Frontpage deal (of course not 😂). It is the same as just to use UR on any Chase travel portal bookings, not necessarily the imaginary first class you don't need or the Hyatt suite you never book, but just anything you can find on the UR portal, at regular price. Yet they still feel so great about redeeming at 1.5 on this fantastic deal, while they always have the power to redeem anything at 1.5 as CSR holders for full retail price.

Anyway, this is the point why this thread is so hilarious and they keep downvoting you if you keep talking. I thought this forum exists because people help each other understanding which is good deal and which is not.

I wasn't even quoting you. Like I said before I enjoy all the downvotes since these CSR holders are all burning UR points for their minimum value at Apple full retail price, which doesn't hurt all my UR points value at all, and when I say this I mean it. Keep them coming! And I know exactly what you want to defend so you enjoy your time in this thread as well!
Your point would be valid if it were true. The minimum redemption value is Amazon (0.8cpp), followed by Cash/Gift Cards (1cpp), and then the maximum is Apple, Charities, or Travel booked through the Chase Travel (1.5cpp).

Yes, you may get higher value by transferring your points out to other partners and booking airfare or hotel stays, but that's not even what you're talking about anymore.

I agree with your comments, but then you really shouldn't have CSR or CSP. The chase URP system is basically designed around collecting URP points across all their products and redeeming towards travel on a sapphire card. @MyDiscover is still correct. The best points to dollar ratio is still in travel redemptions, so its best to use the points there and use the saved cash to purchase other things.

This deal is still a deal, its better than the normal redemption ratio. Its an option, but hes doing good comparing it to whats typically available. His original message:

So just be aware that if you're looking for the best points to cash ratio, this isn't the best available.
This is interesting, but what card would you recommend instead for someone who has a lot of spend in dining with a lesser amount in travel? Even at 1.5 redemption, that equates to 4.5% - I'm not aware of another card with that type of return.

The problem of this redemption is not the 1.5 cpp guaranteed value itself, it's the full retail price of the Apple product you are buying, while you likely at least can find a little something elsewhere even if you desperately need an iPhone this year.

You as a CSR holder can always redeem whatever you find on the UR portal, hotel, car, flight, doesn't have to be fancy rare to find first class, at 1.5 cpp guaranteed. However, after you realize that, you will find yourself buying the full price iPhone for the value of 1.5, which is always the UR value you can get as a CSR holder.

Some people in this thread however would tell you that you have the right to redeem this way since you "need an iPhone now." Some other people will tell you there is a language trick in this "deal." Your own choice, of course.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anyone suggest you should take advantage of this deal if you weren't already looking for / in need of a new iPhone. The fact that you think people in this thread are part of some conspiracy to get cardholders to redeem their points for Apple products in laughable.

The problem with the UR Travel Portal is that it sucks and is mostly overpriced (the same issue you keep trying to make about the iPhone… I think?). Real example… I was looking for a weeklong rental car. Best I could find on the Portal was ~$600. Same week, same category of car, was $400 through Costco Travel and $250 direct from Hertz using their "Manager Special". Are you suggesting I should have booked the $600 car on the Portal with my UR points at 1.5? Seems like that would be far far worse than buying the $1200 iPhone which is $1200 everywhere else using the same 1.5 redemption.

Try First class Suites on Emirates. That's the only redemption I use my points for. Cell phones I can get cheap easily by trading in my Iphone 11's I got for $50 from metro.
Where do you get that for $50? I need to find some cheap trade-in...laugh out loud
does the phone even work??

20 years ago, I would find the flight with 3 connections and stay in cheap suburb hotel to save money. I am not so young anymore and would prefer to stay in 5* luxury hotel in city center nowadays. Using UR points for travel is much more useful for me; although, I completely understand those who would prefer to convert them to something tangible.

In the past, the sweet spots for "savers" were multi-city overseas trips in economy. You were able to visit a couple places for 60K points at high season getting 4+cpp. Unfortunately, recent travel programs devaluation killed it. It becomes harder and harder to find good travel deals unless you are very flexible with the dates. But I still think 1.5cpp is very low if you travel. Especially, considering that you can find Apple products at discount to begin with.

Anyone think this will arrive before Christmas? I'd like to do the deal but really need it to come before Christmas. Out of curiosity, anyone ever get in contact with the merchant to understand why it takes them so long to ship? Is it something like they are awaiting payment from Chase for your order before shipping?
I ordered an ipad mini from them 2 years ago. Ordered on 11/4, shipped on 12/26. Mad

Hopefully this goes better.

I bought AirPods Max with points in 2020 and they took about a week to get here. So it may depend on stock or just how someone is feeling that day.

Thanks for the data point and managing my expectations. I'll take it if ordering on 11/1 means shipped on 12/23 or earlier. I have a feeling I'll be lucky to get that.
