It's back! Limited Time Offer!
Your points are worth 10%-50% more
Until 11/30/23 or while supplies last, your Chase points are worth more when you redeem for any product on the Apple® Ultimate Rewards® Store.*

Chase Sapphire Preferred is 25% more.
Chase Freedom Unlimited is 10% more.

https://ultimaterewardspoints.chase.com/

For example:

The $1199 iPhone Prom Max is 79,900 points (plus tax if applicable) if you have the Reserve (so retail * 66.7 points). Effectively 1/3 off at a penny per point.

If you have a card with a $99 ish annual fee, I suspect you get 25% extra (so retail * 80 points). Effectively 20% off at a penny per point.

If you have a no-annual-fee card, you likely get 10% extra (so retail * 91 points). About 9% off at a penny per point.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

But what if you aren't traveling much and need a new iPhone? Not everyone is looking for a 4 cent pp redemption on a round trip business class flight to Zimbabwe. Why not buy airline gift cards when they go on sale? (Like the recent Southwest cards at Costco).

Also worth noting you get extended warranty and purchase protection when you pay with points (you don't when you pay with gift cards).
You are really better off buying apple gift cards when they have promos or Amex offers to buy Apple giftcards for 20% to 25% off and using the UR points for travel to maximize the value.
I can get an iphone 15 pro for 66,600 points ($660 cash value points)

Using this method, will we be able to take advantage of Apple's Black Friday promo as well?

Historically, no.

Seems like discounted gift cards are not very frequent. Last one was 3 months ago for close to 20%. Can't remember 25% since they started allowing you to pay for hardware with them.

The question of using the points for travel vs merchandise is personal. Getting first class hotels or flights is something most people here wouldn't do without the points. But they can afford to with the great conversion rates. If you don't value first class very highly, or don't travel much, then it won't appeal to you. In a sense it's similar to getting a phone for $1K or more. You can get a perfectly serviceable phone for $100, and cheap prepaid, but for some reason, most people feel like they need the high end stuff and service. Most people on this site have more money than they need, and they end up arguing over how to spend their excess money. Personally, I don't feel comfortable in a five star hotel, or upper end restaurant. But I would definitely look for a points deal to be able to get a superior setup on a redeye. And a "free" stay at a nice hotel, maybe all inclusive, is great. But if you don't travel, all of that is off the table. So, a discount on some Apple product you might or might not get otherwise is a decent way to spend your points.

It is all true but why would you have Sapphire Reserve if you don't travel?

Because it makes the 3-400k points on other chase cards per year worth more for this exact deal every year.

The net 250 annual fee is worth it over the sapphire and it's 25%.

How the extended warranty and purchase protection work when paying with points? Is there a minimum percentage of the purchase that needs to be paid with points to qualify for these benefits, or is it a standard feature of the program? For example 95% points and pay the 5% with my Chase Sapphire Reserve or I can just do straight 100% points.

Thanks for peaking my interest

I don't think it matters if it's all on the CSR card, all on points, or any split between the two. See below for the terms of each per Chase:

"Extends the time period of the U.S. manufacturer's warranty by one additional year, on eligible warranties of 3 years or less when item is purchased with an eligible Chase card or with rewards earned on an eligible Chase card"

"Can repair, replace or reimburse you for eligible items in the event of theft or damage when items are purchased with an eligible Chase card or with rewards earned on an eligible Chase card"

$60 dd credit plus dd membership. 10x on Lyft rides plus Lyft pink. Even if you only travel a few times a year and have family that pp pas can be useful. All the travel insurance and primary rental coverage etc

Recently flew into SeaTac and literally got like $150' worth of take out food with my PP pass once I landed. Plus alot more other benefits.

Lowes Amex offer just had a 25% off any gift card they sell which includes Apple.
