Yep. Bought this because I got tired of dealing with gas, transferring clothes, etc.

I was very surprised at how well it worked. But of course, temper your expectations.

You can't FULLY load it. And expect things to dry completely.

I do smaller loads, which is still quite a lot compared to my old GIANT Maytag top loading.

It's quiet, efficient and it's dry when it's all done. The app notifies when it's 5 minutes away from being done. And when it's actually done.

The clothes come out damp feeling but when you expose it to air, it just dries up completely. Weird. But true.

And the clothes are nice and soft. I think the best part is the 32oz of liquid detergent. I set it to auto. And I can do a decent amount of loads.

12-15. Depending on the clothes.

One thing…I did buy a dedicated small battery Ryobi vacuum It makes it easier to vacuum the lint after 1-2 laundry.

Remember. The cleaner the lint basket is. The dryer the clothes come out. So I've made it a habit to just do it every 1-2 loads.

Regular clothes don't produce much lint. It's the blankets, towels and bathroom floor rugs that do.

Just things to consider and think about. I've had it for about 6 months. I'm happy.

I considered putting a second one side by side to do more laundry. Since they do sell a Y site connector for the water intake. But…I'm happy with the one.

I ended up just putting full wall cabinets where the old dry er used to be.
This uses a heat pump to generate heat and remove moisture. So the drying effect is similar to the evaporator in your home AC system, in that it pulls moisture from the air and just sends it to the drain without needing to vent externally. Pretty neat setup, and the reviews I've seen online seem positive about the tech. It also uses MUCH less electricity than a standard dryer. Like 1/4 per load vs. traditional dryer with heating element.

wish my 10 year old setup (gas dryer + electric heater) would die so I could replace with this - but it refuses to die and I can't justify spending $2k on something that's already solid.

Thanks for this info! Had no idea. Looks like the website may be having issues because no items are adding the 20% discount even though they say the discount for that item will be shown when added and viewed in the cart but no items get it applied. Did you actually go through and verify this with your own account? I'll check back again tomorrow.

Still washes and dries a king size comforter in one cycle. Who cares what random CF that was marketed as "standard"
I think they are just being argumentative because it cheers them up for some reason. The normal size for a large washer is 5 cu ft so, as stated before, it really doesn't matter that large dryers are 7 cu ft. You would have to wash 2 loads to make full use of the dryer.

I will be waiting for Black Friday. Also, remember the tax rebate that you may be eligible for as part of the IRA law. You may get up to $500+ back. https://www.irs.gov/credits-deduc...ax-credits
How do you file the tax rebate?

I'm not an electrician, but it is my understanding that 220 receptacles do not carry a ground. I wouldn't trust a $3,000 washer to a receptacle that isn't grounded. It was easy enough to run a dedicated 15amp to to the closet for peace of mind.
In the US, 220v outlets may or may not have neutral (which some devices require), but per electrical code standards should always have ground. Unless your house is very old.

1) File with your tax return (i.e. 1040)?
2) There is no "washer/dryer" in this list, I doubt this unit would qualify as "heat pump", due to different purpose

Overall, this is very interesting discussion. I owned one of those dryer-washer units without heap pump (either Ariston or Indesit, don't recall exactly) back in 90s in Europe, and was surprised that such models were not available in the US, except some ugly vertically stacked combo. I am glad that they finally start coming to the U.S. market.

If I were planning to buy one, I'd be concerned about 2-yr warranty, and would be looking for some options to extend it. Heat pump compressors are known to fail after some time, you never know when this happens.

It's actually quite the opposite. Most 220V 3 wire would have 2 hot and one neutral, it takes 120V from hot and neutral to operate motor and electronics and 220V gets supplied to heating elements through relays on main board. Recently new construction in my area require 4 prong for dryers which includes 4 wire as ground for increased safety. In my experience having loose outlet prongs is more of a fire hazard on dryer line than not having ground. I've seen melted plugs that were hot enough not being able to touch and the cause was loosened up contacts inside the outlet so both outlet and power cord had to be replaced otherwise it could have caught on fire.

Why worry about gas? Gas is good! Gas is much cheaper than electricity. Plus using gas can release more electricity capacity to avoid having to replace service line with 200Amps (which is like $40k in my area).

- no venting: that also means strong laundry smell in house.
Gas smell (I can smell mine, there could be something wrong with it) and potential for fires/explosions, it burns from your oxygen and so on. As I already said, this unit only uses 110v and probably the same amps as a washer and drier running simultaneously (during the dry cycle that is) - no need to worry about circuit or main service upgrades.

Gas is probably a bit cheaper, but for the other reasons, I am switching away from it. Hot water and house heat will remain gas for now.

I replaced my samsung gas set up after owning it for a year. Wanted to save weight and wanted heat pump drying. This makes life easier without having to transfer clothing plus no need to run 220v or gas. Also, the clothes dry better and feel softer, possibly due to heat pump extracting moisture vs gas burning a flame.

Also, make sure you clean the lint trap every use.. this is by far the single best advice with these units.

I purchased from Costco on 10/2 after waiting as long as I could fit the price to drop.
New to Costco, do they offer a price correction at all?

Costco extends the everything warranty to 2 years parts+labor warranty. You can purchase CostCo's 5year parts+labor warranty, as I did.

This is GE's basic warranty, the heatpump is covered in the sealed drying system 5yr parts warranty:

Labor Warranty
Limited 1-year entire appliance

Parts Warranty
Limited 1-year entire appliance
Limited 10-year motor
Limited 5-Year Drying Sealed System

Based on the tear downs, the sealed system comes out as 1 unit, the entire system, so the service guy doesnt have to debug it, so only time will tell if its that easy of a swap.

Lowe's description has this bullet point:

Quote :
Limited Warranty - rest assured knowing your unit is backed by a 10-year limited warranty on the motor and a 5-year limited warranty on the sealed drying system
Is it 2 years or 5+10?

Man there's no way I'll ever pay more than $1699 for this guy - it's been at that price before, that's the standard price in my mind. Will patiently wait for that price or less before pulling the trigger.
