Yep. Bought this because I got tired of dealing with gas, transferring clothes, etc.

I was very surprised at how well it worked. But of course, temper your expectations.

You can't FULLY load it. And expect things to dry completely.

I do smaller loads, which is still quite a lot compared to my old GIANT Maytag top loading.

It's quiet, efficient and it's dry when it's all done. The app notifies when it's 5 minutes away from being done. And when it's actually done.

The clothes come out damp feeling but when you expose it to air, it just dries up completely. Weird. But true.

And the clothes are nice and soft. I think the best part is the 32oz of liquid detergent. I set it to auto. And I can do a decent amount of loads.

12-15. Depending on the clothes.

One thing…I did buy a dedicated small battery Ryobi vacuum It makes it easier to vacuum the lint after 1-2 laundry.

Remember. The cleaner the lint basket is. The dryer the clothes come out. So I've made it a habit to just do it every 1-2 loads.

Regular clothes don't produce much lint. It's the blankets, towels and bathroom floor rugs that do.

Just things to consider and think about. I've had it for about 6 months. I'm happy.

I considered putting a second one side by side to do more laundry. Since they do sell a Y site connector for the water intake. But…I'm happy with the one.

I ended up just putting full wall cabinets where the old dry er used to be.
This uses a heat pump to generate heat and remove moisture. So the drying effect is similar to the evaporator in your home AC system, in that it pulls moisture from the air and just sends it to the drain without needing to vent externally. Pretty neat setup, and the reviews I've seen online seem positive about the tech. It also uses MUCH less electricity than a standard dryer. Like 1/4 per load vs. traditional dryer with heating element.
If you are a first responder or government employee, GE offers a 20% discount through their website using ID.me. Their listed price is $2,199, but after the discount shows as $1,759.20 with free shipping (not including your local tax).

Man there's no way I'll ever pay more than $1699 for this guy - it's been at that price before, that's the standard price in my mind. Will patiently wait for that price or less before pulling the trigger.
It was a price mistake. I have acess to GE employees discount- it has never been $1700 there either. I still endup getting it from Costco because of the additional perks.

Fair enough, i think another forum member said to just adjust the 220v line and convert to 120v at the box and outlet.
Ge has a video out there describing a side by side install. Search for GE Profile Ultrafast Combo Side by Side install. Tells you how to use this on a 240 circuit (you need to get the adapter).

I purchased from Costco on 10/2 after waiting as long as I could fit the price to drop.
New to Costco, do they offer a price correction at all?
They do. Google Costco Price Adjustment policy (slickdeals.net redirect does not work). There is a form to ask for a price adjustment.

Thanks for this info! Had no idea. Looks like the website may be having issues because no items are adding the 20% discount even though they say the discount for that item will be shown when added and viewed in the cart but no items get it applied. Did you actually go through and verify this with your own account? I'll check back again tomorrow.
Yes, it worked for myself and numerous other individuals on this page. Maybe you're late to the game and they ended it? Or maybe you're doing it wrong? I don't know!

It's actually quite the opposite. Most 220V 3 wire would have 2 hot and one neutral, it takes 120V from hot and neutral to operate motor and electronics and 220V gets supplied to heating elements through relays on main board. Recently new construction in my area require 4 prong for dryers which includes 4 wire as ground for increased safety. In my experience having loose outlet prongs is more of a fire hazard on dryer line than not having ground. I've seen melted plugs that were hot enough not being able to touch and the cause was loosened up contacts inside the outlet so both outlet and power cord had to be replaced otherwise it could have caught on fire.
You sound like an electrician, what are your thoughts on using a 'Y' splitter to convert a 220 receptacle to 120?

My Samsung washer / dryer are 10 years old but still working. Do you think I should then keep my dryer, since I have space, and then if I need to dry large qty, it would work better? If I had $$$ I agree with you would buy 2.. but 4k...

This is GE's official instruction, I am no electrician either but its only for 4 prong setup. https://products.geappliances.com...=000063792

That would power the unit so it operates, but there is a chance of a fire hazard under rare circumstances. The problem is that a 240V dryer outlet is protected by a 30 amp circuit breaker, whereas this washer/dryer is made for 15A or 20A. So if something goes wrong in the unit or its cord that causes it to draw 25 or 28 amps, the 30A circuit breaker won't trip, and something could get very hot. This is an unlikely scenario, but an oversized circuit breaker or fuse is considered a fire hazard, so a Y-splitter causes this hazard. Now if the GE splitter unit contains its own 20 amp breaker, that would remove the hazard. Does it?

Says no vent is needed... why would this not need a dryer exhaust vent vs stand along units?

Thanks in advance.
I'll give the easy answer. High airflow over heat pump and dehumidification. It's much more complex than that, but it's basically a warm and efficient dehumidifier that drains to the floor like any other dehumidifier.

We bought this from Costco back in early July. We have done almost 100 loads of wash since then and it is a game changer when it comes to washing and drying clothes. The heat pump really lowers energy cost. Unlike previous combo models this really gets the clothes dry and a normal wash and dry takes a little over 2 hours. It has worked very well for us and I wouldn't want to wash and dry clothes without it.
how many bath towels fit in a load? how long would it take to dry if it were only bath towels?

Works great in theory: No need to transfer clothes for drying, less issues with mold, more energy efficient. However I used a combo unit 8 years ago in Portugal and it did a HORRIBLE job drying even after running the drying cycle 3 times over. Technology has probably improved since then, but heat pumps are another main concern for failure point and repairs costs. They definitely won't be as reliable as traditional units.

This may be ideal for apartments where space comes at more of a premium and gas isn't an option so energy savings are more profound. However, given that these units are already more than 2x the cost of stackable units I will wait for the technology to mature some more. There's also talk of ultrasonic clothes dryers which may be even more efficient. I guess time will tell.
