Got mine delivered and set it up.

PLEASE READ THE ABOVE QUOTES ^

This thing is TOTAL TRASH.

It has a slight delay, even with simple analog aux, especially to the trash wireless "subwoofer".

"The crossover is screwed up" this is an UNDERSTATEMENT. How can I describe it... with the bass all the way down, the "sub" is still too loud and while it plays lows (sh!tty "mid boomy" lows) it passes everything else thu, and kills everything coming from the bar. If this thing was free I *might* use it over a cheap TV's internal speakers with the sub unplugged. (okay I take that back.. no I wouldnt)

Im hardly an audiophile, but I do have some exp with both expensive (generally nice) and ghetto fraken-setups.

Its almost worth eating the $50 as a loss just to take this thing out to the field with baseball bat office space style... almost.

Return line here I come! Its already re-boxed and sealed, basically looks new (not that the Walmart people would notice/care)

I have TCL Roku TV that I'd like better audio but still want to use the built in Roku from the TV. Is that possible with this?
Check in your HDMI output to see if you have one marked ARC (Audio Return Channel) or a TOSLINK (the optical output). Newer TV don't normally have RCA (the old red/white). Those would be your options for audio out of your TV.

Looking at the spec of this device there is no HDMI-ARC in so your TV MUST have either optical out or RCA. So beware here. If this is a problem look for a sub with HDMI input.

I have the Alto 7+ it is a major update. I think I paid like $85 for it refurb very nice. The sub pairing process can be a bit wonky but once its done no problems.

I have 2 TCL tvs. Both run good, with minimum bells and whistles, but no nonsense technology. One is Roku tv and other is Google tv. I like both.

same here. I wouldn't buy a tcl for a living room tv but mt tcl 55 inch has been working fine for last 9 years.

Wish I could get a 5.1 at this price. Smilie 2.1 is driving me crazy having to constantly adjust volume when switching various streaming sites.

Why would that issue go away by having a sound bar with three more speakers?

No absolutely not. I think people 'love' this comparing it to builtin TV speakers.
I was never able to dial in the dub so it doesn't muddle dialogue. It was awful and returned instantly.

Highly unlikely you have the same model if you spent 130ish on yours. TCL has multiple Alto 5+ 2.1 soundbars, and another one has a suggested price of only $59.

Wonder if this is a newer model? The one I got last year Alto 5+ S522W has been great but it has 1 big annoyance. When you turn it on/off or switch inputs on it there is a loud audible voice that announces it. There is no way to disable it.

if you have more budget, get wireless roku speakers. They work great for my bedroom tcl roku tv and has voice enchantment modes so I don't wake up others in next room while watching movies
Maybe I'm old but I find all those gimmicks to be gimmicks. If someone shows me all those gimmicks in person without telling me, maybe id buy into it, but I'm hard of hearing, so subtitles are the only way to get mumble free translation
