Not a fan of the sound. Just got a Hisense 55" U6K. I actually prefer the sound on the tv than this soundbar. The soundbar's bass makes the speech sound so muffled. There's only 2 steps -/+ adjustment for the bass using the remote.
And the soundbar doesn't remember the -/+ adjustments for bass and treble, so resets every time it's powered off and on. It at least remembers the mode (music, movie, dialogue).

Just got this. Sounds horrible. It tries to play dialog through the subwoofer and it sounds super muddy. Not worth $49

Bang for the buck this is awesome. Got it when I picked up 2 or the 75" TCL Roku tvs and put it in the kids playroom with 1 of them. Bass is awesome and sound is much better than just TV speakers for $50.

I connected it to my firestick with Bluetooth. Had no issues with connectivity
Thanks for checking.

Can you confirm if this does or does not have HDMI input ... I see a few people mentioning HDMI connection but all manuals I am able to find for Alto 5+ 2.1 show no HDMI input (thus no CEC/TV volume control).

I didn't own this but It looks like TCL has a couple versions of the Alto 5+ 2.1 sound bar:

This version looks like the product photos for this deal and does have HDMI ARC:
https://www.tcl.com/us/en/product...ofer-s522w

This version doesn't match the photos for this deal and lacks HDMI:
https://www.tcl.com/us/en/product...bar-ts5010

Hopefully someone who has this sound bar can confirm.

If you "View in 3D" on Walmart's product page and swing the view around to the backside, you can clearly see the "HDMI" logo. The far left connection appears to be a HDMI port, based on the shape. The view zoom only allows you to get so close, but both of these points seem to support ilovetofu's assumption that it's the HDMI ARC version... But who knows if WM's got the deets on the correct model, given TCL's confusing model numbering.

I have setup with HDMI ARC and am able to control volume with my Roku TV remote just fine. Also using it on Bluetooth connected to my phone to play music sometimes.

Based on my googling, all variations of this sound bar feature an optical-in port, so I think you're safe in ordering it. In the unlikely event that I might have missed a variant which lacks the optical port, Walmart's a pretty easy return.

I've had this for a week on a TV I use for mostly for watching news or listening to background music and it's serviceable for $50. I did a quick check of a MLB.TV game and you could hear everything you needed to ( and I'm a baseball geek). Plus it's returnable until January 31.

The sound from this soundbar is about right for $50 - the highs are high and tinny, there's no midrange, and the subwoofer is overenthusiastic and makes muffled noises during dialogue. I have it on the lowest setting and it's still too much. There also seems to be a slight delay with the subwoofer which makes these issues more noticeable.

My biggest issue, however, is with the voice that tells you when you're powered on/off and what input you've selected. You can turn it down but not off, and it's very annoying.

I just pulled the trigger on the Alto R1 from Amazon; I'll compare the two when it comes and return the one I like least. This is for a bedroom TV, so I really don't care about bombastic bass.

Thanks for the feedback, repped. Please share your experience after you do your comparison. Smilie

Did not work with my Samsung tv so i had to return it. It's really cheaply made and the remote is tiny, no indication of volume on the soundbar. Sound is ok was able to connect phone to it via bluetooth.
