In the good ol days of triclosan, Colgate Total dominated the market for super long germ killing by adding triclosan.
Some pita groups decided like candy colors that it's suddenly bad for everyone, forcing the fda to take triclosan off the market for consumers (no issues getting it for the medical field in various products).
So, the toothpaste companies were forced to re formulate. Colgate Total went with a zinc based anti bacterial while crest went with the amino acid, all the while making them taste yuckier imo.
Of the two, crest is lower foam, but doesn't "clean" as well imo. Colgate Total does the better job cleaning as a toothpaste.
....
Of course, those two aren't the best anti bacterial toothpastes.

Clinica Pro from Japan ups the fluoride concentration (EU/JP legal limit higher than USA toothpastes, and yes, data shows lower incidence of cavities) while adding dextranase enzyme for the anti bacterial.
....
As for cleaning gunk, other toothpastes like Crest + Scope (alcohol on the ingredients) or Aquafresh Extreme Clean micro foaming do a better job.
Aquafresh Extreme also leaves teeth super smooth, smoother than most other toothpastes I've tried, so fewer debris stick to it. Very minty though.
...
And yes, the higher end ones have been shrinking sizes while increasing prices.
Rather than depend on a toothpaste's antibacterial ingredient to kill gems between brushing infrequently, better to buy a $1 toothpaste, then brush within half an hour after every meal, snack, or sweetened drink.
It's really Sugar/Carbs + Bacterial = Tooth Eating Acid that murders teeth and gums.
Get rid of the food source by brushing right after meals will go a long way towards healthy gums and teeth.

No, that's pretty much it.
It has added Glycine, but there's no studies that would even suggest that topical Glycine in a toothpaste would do anything for your gums.
It's trying to conflate the effects that Glycine has in air polishing with brushing. The effects do not correlate in that way.
Can't hurt, but it's doubtful that it would help.

Sort of...
Acidic foods soften enamel.
It's recommended to rinse with water and then wait at least 30 minutes to brush after eating or drinking anything acidic to prevent damage to tooth enamel.
