There's a store called Furnish in NE Minneapolis that sells used office furniture. They have all kinds of chairs. You can get an Aeron for 350. The have other high end chairs too and plenty of them.
How do the people on Facebook marketplace get so many of these things? Many with tags still on them! I was thinking they must be fake but researching it seems like fakes aren't a big issue with these.
I know a guy who buys them from the federal government as surplus. Looked over a few dozen. Almost all of them looked unused. Either they are the most durable chairs ever or the government buys and replaces stuff they never use.
I have an Embody, a Leap and a Fern. Don't like the Fern. Love the Embody more as an art piece and ergonomic chair but I feel like my Leap is much more comfortable and is the chair I would recommend the most. Didn't like the Gesture, loved the arms though. Hate the Aeron, only the remastered in size C is passable. The Mirra is a much better chair. The Haworth Zody is another also very comfortable chair. I would rank it Leap as number one, Zody as number two and Embody as number three for most people.
Tried the Vantum out too and that is just terrible and overpriced and felt cheap.
I have been working remote at home since 2020.....and I use my teens old $14.99 Target clearance swivel chair.....been getting my work done on a 20 inch LCD monitor that I got for free too ...with annual "outstanding" performance evaluations with the additional note "by far best employee on the team". Just letting the kids know expensive equipment does not help with productivity. Save your money and invest!
Bought my Aeron with posture support in 2002 for about $800. I used to program from home about 12 hours a day for 3 years then use it for at least a few hours everyday (when not working from home) since then. Aside from the dust under the seat, the chair performs like new still. My boy and my wife chairs broke a few times (each cost around $100 lasted about 4 years or so). May be the financial number doesn't work out better but it feels better. No back pain
I got some free HM chairs from my neighbor when they close office. All of them are over 20 year but qty are good still. Very steady compare to those I bought from Office Depot.

For what it's worth, I bought an embody during one of their sales back in April or May, paid somewhere between $1200-$1300 after cashback + discount and haven't once regretted the purchase.

I am sure it beats the shit out of the Ikea MARKUS I got for $200 that I have been using for five years now working from home.

I can't speak to that chair but it definitely beats the shit out of the 2020 secret lab titan that I was rocking.
I used to have back pain every single day from that chair. With the embody, even after sitting in it all day for work and then all night gaming, I have absolutely zero pain.
