Couldn't resist. Went with 17". I know it's i5 but otherwise the 16GB RAM and 512 SSD and 16:10 aspect ratio and 2k resolution matte screen for $800 is exactly the version of this laptop I've been waiting for. I keep seeing wildly different reports of screen brightness nits. Can anyone share their experience and compare to XPS and MacBook, which I know are brighter, but is the Gram adequate? Hope the deals for the Gram on BF aren't hotter than this, but I didn't want to miss out.

Edit: Regarding display brightness, watched a vid online where a guy convinced me that glossy screens require much higher brightness (400-500 nits) to overcome glare issues vs matte screens being much more visible at lower brightness levels (~350 nits). So that is reassuring for the Gram with matte screen config.

How is the iGPU on the i5-1340P? Looking to use it for some home architect.

My company gave us Z books with Nvidia T1200 in them (discrete GPU). My T1200 is approximately 3 times better than the Iris Xe integrated GPU. Granted, Revit and Autocad don't rely heavily on a discrete GPU, so you should be fine...unless you also do renderings. If you do renderings, I recommend a laptop with a discrete GPU, unless you use Revit's cloud rendering.

The gram is a great ultrabook but extremely thermally limited. Fans will kick on quite high for anything more than office and web browsing/video watching. I love mine, it's light with a big screen and 8 hour battery but the thermals are really poor. LG hasn't really upgraded the thermals while processors get hotter every year.

But even with poor thermals it's a monster for productivity, studying, or coding because the massive screen with taller aspect ratio while still being very portable. But I would imagine it's not great for graphics because of thermal throttling.

You can look up reviews of the various LG's and compare to something with the gpu you have.

Well look at that. Lg gram super slim, thermally limited, runs faster than the even more thermally limited MacBook air 15 m2 (cpu graph benchmark rating)!

Adequate pretty much describes it. For indoor use in any normally lit room, brightness needs to be 80%+ . I have to keep a 3M privacy screen on mine for use in public places and with that on, it is adequate at 100%. Looks great with the lights off though! I got a refurb 15.whatever" from a deal I saw here for something like $600. Looked brand new. Had one sticky key that loosened up. The thing is crazy light, fast, and battery seems good. I was coming from a Samsung 9.

Love my 2021 LG Gram 17 but they still haven't addressed the crappy speakers... Otherwise, I would definitely upgrade.

Great deal I got a 2022 LG Gram 17 for $999 with an i5-1240p last year and absolutely love it. Screen size and battery life are great.

Lots of owners says laptop warps after kreping it i their backpack. So bad thernals, terrible speakers and poor construction. If lightweight is your absolute priority then thats the only reason to get grams as they have quite a few negatives.
