These are currently on sale on Amazon and elsewhere for $120. I kept checking the eBay listing for an indication it was refurbished, but it appears to be new with a full 2 year warranty.

That is 100% user error. You need to try not having noodle arms, and drag it backwards. I broke up a 20x30 plot of yard that had been graded with about 4-6" of road base. This was in central Texas (no soil harder than CTX IMHO), where we also have clay and limestone to break through as well. I tilled down 18" deep on the high side, and had about 2-3 yards of dirt to move out


But seriously, don't buy this if you think it's going to make things "easy". You still have to put in actual work with it. If you're not tired after using it, you probably didn't need it in the first place.

This tiller is a damn good tiller.

Love my Sun Joe tiller. Amongst experiences, used it to till ip hard clay/dirt before digging it out and pouring a concrete pad. Saved a lot of effort.

Do yourself a favor and take this one apart to add gaskets to the motor casing before running it. Mine stopped running because dirt somehow got inside.

While it's apart, lubrication and rotating the inner blades for better aeration wouldn't be a bad idea.

At the bottom of the listing under a condition types tab, it says:

This may be a way to circumvent eBays item condition guidelines, or at least is confusing and misleading. eBay listing says new, then they put this in their own listing template. I'm guessing it is refurbished.

I got one of these last spring to till a Garden and wasn't impressed.
My area is hard impacted red clay soil with loads of crabgrass and the tiller just seemed to want to bounce ontop instead of dig in.
It would probably be fine for smaller areas with looser soil or to amend soil.
