I don't know if there is a difference in storage between the two SE versions. As my series 3 got older, I would have to back it up and unpair in order for it to update. However, once the backup was restored, everything worked as before. I have a newer model watch now, and it's nice to have enough storage where that isn't an issue.
With that said, the SE2 is very similar to the series 8 except it doesn't have the additional sensors for temperature, oxygen, and the ECG or the always on display (I don't use that but nice to have). I personally think the SE2 would be worth the difference (if you can get this price) over the SE1, but I would probably pay a bit more and get it locally vs the risk of having it shipped. I personally prefer the sport loop band. The material doesn't irritate my skin like the silicon band. Some of the Black Friday ads have already been released, and the others should follow shortly. It the SE2 is twice the price, then I'm not so sure. My series 3 worked great for message, keeping track of my walks, and the time.
FYI. I have seen the series 8 for as low as $224. It's mostly the red color with very limited quantities of the other colors.
