It's a good speaker, but $5,000 is still too much. I got a pair of R11s for $3,000, and they're much better.

The LS60 is a strange speaker. It sure does look nice, though.

Great speakers indeed. I've auditioned them at my friend place and it was WOW! I am big KEF uni-q fan, moved from Meta to LS50W II, but that was different experience. If you can afford them, get them!

The LS series (LSX, 50 and 60 models) are more lifestyle products. Those interested in audio performance as a priority will appreciate their other lines (Q, R and reference)

Guess it's a deal considering adding comparable amp/subs closes the price gap coming from a passive kef system. Do the ls60s somehow have more reliable electronics though? That is the question 🤣..

Kef usually good with warranty and after warranty repairs. But usual rule apply to all electronics: anything can happen. Don't know about LS60 internals, but i fixed ebay parts/not working LS50w with busted PS . Easy accessible main board and having my working set a a reference all repair was under $50. Sold locally for a profit.

I also want to add that KEF in their wireless line did a good job matching speakers with proper amplification(LS50W for example have 30 watt class A/B amplifier on the tweeter and 200 watt class D amplifier on the mid/bass drive). Some prefer spending time and money DIY matching, but owning Meta/Bryston and wireless at the same time, i like wireless more.

Your R11s will not sound as good as the LS60 no matter what you do. These things punch way above their price class once you consider speaker and electronics. To clearly beat these things you would need to go to the blades with $30k of electronics.

The KEF Reference series powered with decent amps and a small sub will also outperform the LS60 (they go to ~30Hz +/-3dB) and for a lot less than the $30K you mentioned. The Reference series offer a big improvement in detail. They are far more revealing. You can find some very good deals on the non-meta Reference series. They are significantly discounted since they are discontinued. I have seen non-meta Reference 1 below $5K, Reference 3 around $7K and Reference 5 around $10K at my local dealer.

I agree the R11 are not the best for the current price (The non-meta were heavily discounted to around $3K/pair a few months ago when they were discontinued).

it is not me being sarcastic. it is like i said, apples and oranges.
KEF does a great job including the amp that perfectly matches their speaker on their wireless series. so if you are going to argue R11 is just as good as LS60 for cheaper, you are missing out a huge component that is the amplifier. throw in a good amp and all of the sudden the cost isn't nearly as significant
