Decent deal but not fire. Most important thing to remember about the shorter outdoor ones is that, unlike the indoor strips, you can't link them up or cut them. The size you get is the size you get.

My outdoor lights died after 1 winter in chicago. I don't think these are ready for cold weather.
I have 40+ hue lights outside including about 15 A19 bulbs that are not even listed as outside compatible, as well as 4 of the 16.4' version of these light strips including one wrapped on the underside of cap stone on a natural gas firepit that I've measured the cap stone temp at 130f, and none of them have had a failure in 2 winters in a much more harsh climate than Chicago.
If you have phillip hue lights, and they "died" after one winter in chicago, then I'm going to say you have some other issues going on there

I love it when 2 people from Chicago get together online. It's always entertaining. Thanks for that!
Anybody know what the distance is on the cord that goes from wherever it plugs in to where the lights start? And I'm assuming it uses AC outlet not USB?

I'm about 400 miles North of Chicago, but since his the dude who says he is from Chicago stated that they failed and weren't shot out, I would suspect he's in the burbs

It uses AC. The light has a power lead that's a few inches long that plugs into the driver brick. The lead coming out that side of the brick is around a foot and the other end with the AC plug is around 3 feet, maybe a bit longer. At least that's how it is for the 16' one.
Any tips on installing/wiring these up to ensure they last long? I just had a patio installed and got some of the outdoor light strips as well as some additional Hue outdoor lights. Cant put up the lights yet till next year but trying to plan ahead.
I've checked Youtube and it's mostly the finished product without actually showing the installation process. Are extension cords okay? As my outdoor outlets are in a weird place. thanks in advance
