I have this vac and it's a great unit for cars and other small jobs. If you have a need for a small vac, this is a good choice.

I have a similar model to this that I bought years ago. Only thing I didn't like is it's so lightweight and the hose is so stiff that it tipped over all the time. And if I recall it then shuts down. Otherwise never had any trouble with it.
If you read the negative reviews people seem to be complaining about it shooting dust out the exhaust port.

It's small, loud and no filter.

Agreed but better yet how hard would it be to adjust the filter that comes with the unit?

It says "tool only", which means it doesn't come with a hose?

I have a small stinger shop vac that I use for my pellet smoker. It works great. Takes a simple filter bag that does a decent job reducing ash blow back, and keeps the mess out of my main shop vacuum. Highly recomend having a dedicated small shop vac like this for bbq/smoker use

So with a bigger shop vac, I clamped a cheapy automotive cone filter to it and washed it out every couple months.

I bought this same unit the last time it was on SD. I thought it would come in handy for small jobs such as vacuuming the interior of my car. It is meh, suction is decent for its size. My biggest complaint is that if you switch position, it would completely lose sucking power. It is screaming like crazy but no actual air pull. I had to turn it off and turn it back on to regain suction power.

No, I can't recommend it. I ended up getting a full-sized Ridgid 16 gal shop vac that was recently on sale for $60 in HD.
