I have the DW735 and I still get snipe on most boards if I just send it through. (Yes my tables are flat/level). There are various methods for controlling snipe, but the best way I've found is to add sacrificial runners on the sides of your piece (extending about 3 inches from both ends, doesn't have to be full length of the workpiece or very wide, just like 10 inches long or so to hang off the ends. Use scrap pine). Glue them on for best results and easy handling when flipping. Your workpiece will be snipe free. The idea is just to keep even pressure on the rollers as your workpiece enters/exits. Try it with your WEN and you might end up happy with it.

I have this planer and it is terrific. It has a powerful blower for chips. If you don't have an equally powerful dust collector, you can use a garbage can or something.

Snipe... Yes I get snipe. But I just either plan for it, use sacrificial boards or a sled. The last project I did I forgot to plan for my last glue up and had to send stuff thru and could not afford to trim off the snipe. I hot glued an oversized 3/4 plywood board and had zero snipe.

I would highly recommend this planer. Good luck.

I have been looking at this planer and the Dewalt DW735. My current planer, Wen, has quite a bit of snipe at both ends. From what I can tell it's from the head moving/rocking as the wood enters/leaves the plane. I'd be curious of the snipe of the Ridgid.

From what I know/hear about planers, there is always snipe. I'm going to be using mine tomorrow. I'll report what I see.

In for 1. Will ask for forgiveness from the Mrs. after it arrives.
It appears to be Model R4331, but the image of this with the blades looks different than the stand alone R4331 on their webpage (red/yellow switch vs all red, blow port vs none). Are they exactly the same model? Reading some reviews on the one and want to make sure it's apples to apples.

Yes, thank you! I've been looking for a planer. This looks sufficient and great price with the blades! Time to make a sled

This was a heck of a deal. The few places I checked it was not available. I see someone marked as expired. Bummer.

Looks like it's a Black Friday deal that someone accidentally made live too early, so HD made them all "out of stock" for now. However, if you want one, my spidey senses say they'll be back in stock on/around Black Friday at this price!

Used mine today. It of course causes snipe. I had a pretty noticeable amount on the leading edge. I could actually feel the piece shift as it fed and locked in with the rollers. This could be user error and a better feeding technique might help with this. Sacrificial board running parallel to the finished piece would definitely solve it (common suggestion). Very little snipe on the trailing edge though.

I could easily feel the leading edge snipe, and could even see it at the right angle. Trailing edge, I could barely feel it and could not see it at all. It's very minimal (by my standards).

It is the Model R4331. The picture differences: It does included the vacuum port. The all red version of the switch is without the safety lock. Another picture for this deal has the lock removed and is all red.

I also still see the deal available both as free delivery for store pickup, or free delivery to home. It was never in store (that I saw). But there's currently only 6 available. Maybe people are buying then canceling? They received more?

I have this planer. Highly recommended.

Several ways to deal with snipe.

1. Plan for it. If I have extra material, I will plane my boards first and then trim down to my required length or width. Knowing that I will have a few inches on either end.
2. Sacrifical leading and trailing runners as mentioned above.
3. Sleds. I used a 3/4 plywood board for a glue up I needed to keep the length on. I just hot glued the corners to the plywood and it worked well.
