If you are worried about plastic materials, I don't know how you can avoid them in today's world. Your water filtration assembly is made of plastic which probably leaches particles all the time.
Metal is generally easier to sanitize and prevent bacterial growth.
I paid $25.00 over a year ago and it was money well spent.
