Good brand. I had it 4400 watt last year. It was nice then need it bigger one sold it. This year bought bigger one and still in the box. I keep it for back up. I recommend it. I had issue with first purchase in first month. They send me another unit and label for return the other one after they ask me couple question about generator.
I just got this generator from Amazon recently. Already out it through 90 hours operation and 3 oil changes or so , as my shop building is not grid connected yet and I'm working on clean out and demo for a shop ranch apartment conversion/renovation.
So, few complaints , hate to be that guy but here it is. 1) my Gen arrived with a broken motor mount and missing a key. I called support and they told me I couldn't use it without the replacements and sent me parts which arrived 4 days later. Fine. I'm handy and I figured out how to crank the generator without the keys (have to disconnect two wires and then pull start works). The motor mount being broken didn't seem to affect operation, but it was a more serious concern since I was buying new product.
I've had couple weeeks and finally got around to installing the replacement motor mount yesterday. Like I said, I'm handy. I've worked as a mechanic professionally for a limited time, but I'm not really a pro. More jack of all trades.
They didn't include any instructions on how to replace the motor mount , but from the new part it was obvious there were at least 14 bolts or so I needed to remove. So I got to take a bunch of stuff off. There's wires you need to take off. And the worst part, for me at least because I'm always breaking stuff, is that some of the parts were stuck in place even after I removed fasteners. I had to pretty much damage the engine cover plate on the back to remove it after removing the two bolts.
I'm sure they maybe would have sent instructions if I called to ask , but it's really not a satisfactory support process for a brand new product claimed to be supported by a nationwide network of their "technicians". Would the average homeowner be able to install this part without instructions ? I don't think so. So you expect us to pay a mechanic after buying new generator? The rep didn't even mention what the process would be after I get the part.
The good news for me was, Amazon refunded the transaction and told me to keep the generator. Guess I can't complain too much.
Moral of the story: Wen lost a future customer, and I was planning on maybe buying their planar , amongst other woodworking tools for my renovation.
has 240v outlet, but only can use either 120v or 240v, but not both at the same time.
This is true and I found bit annoying because I'm using it at a place without power or outlets everywhere outside. The 240v connects to your main breaker panel though , through your method of choice, and that will give you 120v down each side to power your outlets normally . It's just annoying because I can't plug my extra stuff outside into the generator outlets and keep power running on my panel from generator.
