Old bulb = 60 watts
New bulb = 8 watts
Savings per hour of runtime: 52 watts (we'll say 50 to make the math look nice)

Cost of electricity (per KWh) = 17.1 cents (source [bls.gov])
Cost of light bulb: 25 cents
Savings needed to recoup cost of bulb: 1.46 KWh

Savings per hour runtime: 0.05 KWh
Runtime to save cost of bulb: 1.46/0.05 = 29.2 hours

I am not finding any difference between these Sylvania TruWave 8W 800lm 2700K light bulbs and non-TruWave 8W 800lm 2700K light bulbs.

It seems that TruWave 8W = Non-TruWave 8W
TruWave 800lm = Non-TruWave 800lm
TruWave 2700K = Non-TruWave 2700K

Unless there is a light bulb spec I am missing.

TruWave Technology™ offers the best alternative to natural light by mimicking the natural light spectrum, all while saving energy. Controls blue wavelengths for lower glare and reduced eye strain to improve readability and supports an improved sleep-wake cycle.

In store they had an 80-something cents coupon that made these less than 10 cents a bulb
