I would avoid eBay and go with Walmart or target if you want these because they making return for any reason FREE and simple.
There's no free return shipping with Monoprice on eBay when it comes to the T6 unless damaged or defective.
I purchased 2 t6 when they were $268 each and a couple days later the price dropped to $168 each then a couple days after that they dropped again to $144 each.
I asked Monoprice on eBay if I could be refunded the difference they said no.
So I'm out $240 because I went with eBay and there's no free return shipping on the encore T6 on eBay.

Yes, they are. I have the T5's and B6's, the T5's are especially impressive at the $180/pair sale price - the extension and authority in lower frequencies (under 40hz) is unheard of at this price.
If I was building a new budget system the T6's at this price would definitely be high on my list.

THX version for double the price and we have a deal. Wish it was white as well
I have a feeling we'll see those go into deeper sales soon. They've been moving sales up the stack from the Encore B5's and T5's then the B6's and now the T6's.
I personally have Wharfedale 9.6's, 9.CM, a few pairs of 9.SR's in my theater (almost 20 years old) and 9.2's in a stereo setup and 10.1's in the office.
Some of these Monolith speakers do have some similarity in the sound signature - deep bass extension but they are a little hotter on the treble side - especially on the T5. The midrange is not quite as nice though - I'd guess with the mid tweeter the midrange would come alive a bit more.

I have infinity reference towers right now with 5" speakers. Would these be a worthy upgrade?
253's? Those are decent speakers. The T6's are likely to be in another class though - according to measurements they should be able to go much louder. The 253s kind of fall apart below ~40-45hz in terms of distortion.
Edit:
Don't get me wrong - I think the 253's are decent but low bass at high volumes isn't their strong suit.
At 86db the R253 seems to be more manageable but at 96db it's completely out of control, a high pass filter at say 50hz or higher would help this.
At 86db the T6's are in the 1.7% range at 40hz - at higher volumes reducing the bass via tone control, EQ or adding an HPF is still going to beneficial.

Yes, the 253s. And a 265 center channel, and a monolith 12" sub to handle the lows.
I hate the way the 253s aren't well-footed for the location they need to be in at my house. they're so unstable.

I'd only consider it if you're wanting to swap the center too. The metal dome and soft dome combination will likely cause timbre matching issues. Maybe look into attaching some outrigger feet to the Infinities?

This is exactly what I was wondering about. My center channel is fantastic, but thought things might be off I changed it. I assume the center on sale for $125 would be a downgrade from my current center.
I just wonder if these towers would be worth the effort to upgrade. If seen a lot of their efficiency too, but haven't gone back to compare that to the 253s. I'm using a Denon 3700 as my receiver and this would be mainly for home theater/video games vs music.

May I ask what receiver/amp you are using on those. I see the speakers are 4 ohm

The 3700 would easily power the T6's. I'm generally not a fan of MTM designs so I would probably try to match the T6's with a 365C. Since you have a sub I don't know if I'd go through all that effort if you're happy with how the Infinity's sound.

Using an old Panasonic SA-HE200 and it handles them fine. Also tested on a Carver TFM-15CB + SMSL SU-1 and Onkyo NR7100 - they all handle the towers just fine when played very loud.

I've been keeping an eye out for upgrades from my Andrew Jones 5.1 Pioneer set. Was hoping to snag some of the Monolith THX speakers as they go on sale or open box.
Should I keep waiting or pick these up to replace my towers? (using denon s970h receiver ). My center is definitely lacking but I haven't seen the monolith thx 365 center drop under $400.

The T6's would be a big upgrade. I can't say whether the C6 center is any good or not, it may be fine depending on your listening area. If you purchase at Target or Walmart returns are painless so it may be worth a shot.
Arendal's have a similar design and quite a few like them - the MTM designs I have heard generally do not have very good dispersion but I'm sure that doesn't apply to all.

The measurement to look at is the 96db THD.
T6
-25db at 40hz
Approx 5.6% THD
R253
85db at 40hz (-15db)
Approx 17.7% THD

Edit:
Horizontal dispersion is actually not too bad on the C6 but it does fall apart at about 20-25 degrees off axis

365C is much better though:

Compare it to the huge Klipsch RP-504C II (not good)
