The 8GB RAM is soldered and 3200 MHz, but there is a open slot to upgrade by adding a stick of SODIMM.
The 256GB SSD is a M.2 2242, could be easily swapped out for a 2280 with larger capacity if needed.
The USB-C only supports data transfer.
The display is a 300 nits IPS.

Not worth selling the 256gb SSD. You'd get maybe $20 if you're lucky. Better to keep it around as a spare for emergencies, or get a usb enclosure and use it as an external drive!

I've been laptop shopping for my parents for months and this seems like a great deal. The only drawback from my list is the SSD size and no backlit keyboard. Would anyone agree or recommend I wait for end of month sales?

256 GB should be very good enough for parents perspective until you have a specific use case for high storage. Check if SSD is replaceable. You can. Replace with 500gb SSD very cheap these days and sell this 256gb.

Tempted to get this just to connect to Citrix for remote work. Anyone see a downside with that? Don't need much ram or storage when just using a VDI.

Unless you store a lot of long videos and install many large applications 256GB storage should be good. Lenovos are great computers with no bloated apps pre installed.

If they plan to load a bunch of software or download videos or something requiring a lot of space, the they should do gigabyte range. But if they just surf and talk and email, 256 is fine. I would miss the backlit keyboard however!

Also, I'd check out the display on this. That would be what they MOST would likely care about. If it looks crappy, they won't be happy!

i3-1115G4 is only a two core CPU. I expect performance to be underwhelming
