It's an electronic kit. Theres a board with posts in a grid array and it has electronic components with conductive snaps that link the components together on a grid. There's a battery snap rectangle, this replaces that with a wall wart unit.

Give your kids access to 110V instead of 1.5/3/4.5/6V. What could go wrong?

It's one of those STEM/STEAM/alphabet soup toys to get children interested in engineering.

"See! Engineering is colorful! It's so easy, just snap it into place! That's all you can do to make something light up and blink! Look at little Timmy, he's so smrt!"

The next step? Unfathomable amounts of hard math and standardized testing, just so the applicant can work in a lab doing thing to make someone else richer as they destroy the world's ecology. Zero creative thinking -- just intelligent enough to operate the "hard to operate" machines while being in debt too far to back out.
Oh man, sounds like you suck at math and hate people who don't. Please shut it, toys like this facilitate learning and help kids grow up with a passion that translates into a productive career, which keeps them from trolling legitimate products online. Go read a book!

I wonder if this would help with the power loss when trying to make all the snap circuit kit run off one AA battery?
also wiring the fan backwords to shoot the blade into the air is fun.

That's my daughter's favorite thing to do with this kit.

Remember Baby Einstein?

A kid will learn more about engineering and life if you buy them a bike and make them take care of it.

I had snap circuits when I was a kid and am now 3 years into an electrical engineering degree, so whatever they're doing works. I also consider making stuff with electronics to be my most satisfying creative outlet and am more interested in that than the actual snap circuits I had, so your views do not apply to everyone. Also every business makes someone richer, that's the whole idea. Even you commenting on this post indirectly makes Slickdeals richer by giving them more traffic

Some people want to dream higher than ending up as a middle aged machine operator with many regrets about what his life could/should have been, and random solutions for the "damn useless kids these days"

There's nothing wrong with being a machine operator, plumber, electrician, or doctor or scientist for that matter. Who cares, do what you love and gives you joy (assuming it doesn't hurt someone else).
Life is short, how that person can complain about a kit that kids enjoy AND teaches them critical thinking is beyond me.
But yes, my initial reaction to their comment was "who hurt you my dude?!?"
