Seems like a good deal, especially with the upcoming increase in prices on NVMes that Samsung threatened. If you need one, its a good time to get one.

That board offers both a gen4 and a gen3 NVMe slot. It could be something as simple as the owner never even read the manual and put it in the lower gen3 slot. Newegg reviews are a total crapshoot.

I'm still undecided, as I am also in the market for an 18TB HDD, and I don't want to splurge on both, so I probably won't buy either until a BF deal comes along to persuade me one way or another.

I bought this. my read avg off of crystaldisk is 6500 write is like 6200, so i'm definitely getting pcie 4.0 nvme speeds. I installed mine, (HS model) on a fairly higher end pcie4 adapter, directly to a pcie 4.0 x8 slot.

temperature at idle is about 37c. interestingly it is much lower than my two drives that are installed under asus' included motherboard heatsinks: a 980pro and a 980, both nvme, both 53C.

I did not need this as I already had 2tb total in the system, but I suspect ssd prices will go up soon so 2tb for 99 sounds like a good price, especially for a higher end product.
