Postpaid, the phone gives a message specifically says mint sim only, to unlock need to contact mint

That's not good news, but appreciate the info.

It should work with T-Mobile sim. Mint told me they never lock android phones. They only lock iphones
Welp you were super wrong.

For anyone else who has received it, is your sim kit simply a 5GB 12 month kit also? My sim kit have the same UPC as this, which seems to have no requirements around porting

Can I give the phone to a relative that already has Mint, and can anyone use the 12 month sim/plan if they port their number to Mint (and hasn't been with Mint recently)? I assume phone is not locked to an account, right? thanks

Phone is locked to the carrier, but not the account. You can have someone else use the sim/account on a different phone. You can also use P7P on a Mint account that's different from the deal.

Where I am not sure is what it takes to unlock the phone - whether it needs to be in service in some account for 12 months, or can it just sit in a drawer for 12 months?

I want to dispell the rumors now. It's locked to T-Mobile since they took over in April. Prior the 7 and 7 pro deals were unlocked prior to the takeover. These are 100 percent locked
They are locked to MINT and not T-Mobile. Can't even use them with my main carrier so I guess I'll let this just ride out the year

If this is the same as the last P7 deal, then you can get a new number and have 6 months of service, or you can port in and get 6+6 months of service. IOW, porting in kicks in the extra 6 mo promo.

Did you purchase a previous deal? Do you remember what sim kit came with your phone? I was fully under the impression of what you described, until I opened my p7p package and saw the sim kit with the UPC of 853455004785, which appears to be just straight up 12 month 5gb.

I did the P7 deal. I am not 100% on this and someone else can weight in, but IIRC, the plan you paid for is what's attached to the sim. People with different plans had the same UPC.

[edit] Found a copy of what I had in the last deal. I had the same UPC (853455004785), and I chose the 4GB 6 month plan.

Guess we'll wait for someone else to chime in. I am not planning to activate my plan for another 5 weeks or so. The phone itself is being setup as we speak.

[edit] Just saw your edit. Thank you for confirming!

New customer only. Bummer, Currently a Mint customer who needs a new phone.

I wonder if they'll sell me a new number with the phone, I could put my current sim in and sell the new kit on eBay?

You should always port out of Mint after your discounted plan is up since only new customers get deals. I ported out to US Mobile as they were doing a 100 free day promo for porting in, they've since lowered it 50 days. I'll be porting back to Mint before the expiration of my current month with USM.

Quick question before I give this deal a go. For those of you who bought this deal, did the Pixel 7 Pro you received come with any non-stock apps pre-installed?
