PPI being a problem is proportional to distance. You cannot rule out whole product categories because you simply can't imagine sitting 2.4" further back from your monitor. 2.4" isn't hyperbole, that's the exact distance difference between the perfect Visual Acuity Distances between 24.5" and 27" at 1080p.

For sitting at the average distance to a monitor on a computer desk here are the golden rules:

24" - 1080p (FHD)
27" - 1440p (2K)
32" - 2160p (4K)

For gaming you want 144hz and above

1080p is more about hitting 280hz (or at least getting closer), than hitting a higher resolution. Since hitting that fps would require a much more expensive cpu/gpu as the resolution gets higher. Translation, this is great for any reflex based gaming, where fidelity might not matter as much on a mid range cpu/gpu combo.

Yeah, definitely not for typical PC viewing distances. I guess if you were going to put this further away might be ok.

Solid specs for the price but, as others have said, 1080p at 27" won't look particularly great. It may not matter if you're only into FPS or fast-paced shooter-type games.

Text and other static screen assets might not look so hot.

Perfectly adequate if you are a controller player and lean back in your chair as you game. PPI less of an issue at that distance. This model is not for everyone, but enjoy your purchase after you make an informed decision.

I'll chime in to say that, as someone who has used a 27" 1080p monitor in the past, the extremely low ppi is a big deal and, at least for me, greatly detracts from my experience using the monitor.
As a high refresh rate 1080p monitor this is targeted at gamers who primarily play competitive multiplayer titles, or other games which require extremely quick reactions and a twitchy playstyle. If you almost exclusively play slower paced single player titles, or would be using this monitor for productivity and/or media consumption, you'd be better served getting a 1440p monitor. The additional resolution will have a far greater visual impact than the additional visual smoothness of this type of monitor. Additionally, while the visual quality of this monitor isn't bad for it's price class and type, performing in line with most other 240z+ 1080p monitors, compared to monitors not targeted at very high refresh rate gaming it will generally be inferior in most visual metrics. Here's a review: https://www.pcworld.com/article/1...eview.html
I'll also say that I have a monitor with the exact same stand this model includes, and it's actually quite good, better than you'd expect at this price point.
Edit: Also, don't forget that dell oftentimes has additional promotions, both credit card offers and cb, that can save you even more. There's a certain cb site offering 10% cb on dell right now.
