We moved in to house where the speakers are installed in the ceiling like around 35 speakers in 12 zones. They didn't leave a stereo or receiver. Please let me know if this will help me in connecting to multiple zones? TIAPlease let me know

This is geared towards a home theater. You need something else for an12 zone house setup

After almost 3 years to the date. My Sony str-dn1080 took a shit, and the ARC connection no longer works.

Would this be comparable? I use a 5.1.2 setup in my house

That's my concern. My entire reason for upgrading my receiver is for 8k passthrough and Atmos.

My understanding is that the build quality of the X series is higher. Unfortunately there are no specs to speak to that

I found Audussey xt32 to make such a positive transformative impact to the sound quality, I'd suggest trying to save up for the lowest model with it (3xxx series).

Yep they really make you pay for it but it's worth it IMO for equipment that should give you many years of service. Just keep it well ventilated or better yet put an aircom fan on top.
