The trick is to never hook up a "smart" TV to the Internet. Use an Apple TV or Roku streaming box and use HDMI-CEC so that streamer remote ID is all you need to jump straight to your input. Tweak your picture settings once and then hide the TV remote.

I just got the U7K 75" from Costco at $100 more as part of a $400 off promotion (bought a gazebo also) It's a very solid picture, and really bright. The menu navigation is a bit slow and laggy, works well with a 4k fire stick.

That being said, don't expect OLED levels
here, very different PQ from my 83" C2. Probably one of the best values for the dollar out there.

I've had the 55u7k for a couple of months now. Got it for free with my cash back rewards.
Strange thing though. I had some clouding going on but I fixed it with the Paramount Plus app. The app has these weird lines that show up during the start and it fixed it(at least that's what I'm telling myself lol). Kinda like a stuck pixel screen refresh.

You got the point in your comment! It's old and probably the technology did not have expiry timers set inside those days!
Yep. I have one from 2016 I used daily and it has only gotten better with each Roku update. I am shocked, actually that a $500 tv has lasted this long.

Here's a pretty good side-by-side comparison of the U8K series vs. U7K series. Might help in deciding (for your use case) if the 85U8K would be worth the extra $500 over the 85U7K.

I bought the 75" u7k back in August to replace my lg cause I could not watch TV in the afternoon cause of glare from the sun peaking through my curtains. Now I'm happy seating on my favorite recliner. I have this hooked with a Nvidia shield.

agreed my first hisense lasted me almost 3 years, then I learned this. Looking at TV internals, they dont seem to ventilate properly. so its cheaper to change a $40 stick than a whole tv. the hotter they run, the quicker they can burn out.
My next tv is going on 5 years so far.

My parent's panasonic plasma from 2008 is still going strong. They don't want to replace it as long as it's working

Can you expound a bit? Does this make the TV last longer, and if so, why?

I have a friend with a 25 year old Panny about the size of a piano and he still loves it.

Do you know if the 75" is an IPS panel? Good off angle viewing?

Ordered yesterday and waiting to schedule a delivery. Does anyone have experience with delivery scheduling with Amazon? Not sure how long before they reach out.

Haha my parents have one from 2007 I believe and also are reluctant to upgrade since it works fine. Don't make TV's like that any more. Lucky to get 5 years from them now.
